Anybody believe the story that has been given?
I’ve always believed that the military waited until it was in a rural area and shot it down. Which I believe would have been the tough but correct call given the situation.

The hell you say.

I believe that you’re full of shite. And there were ordinary Americans on that flight like you and me. Moms and Dads. Sons and daughters. That rose to the occasion to help the greater good.

There was small debris pile a mile from the main crash (missile strike?). It was even initially reported shot down on the news.

We will likely never know. Those folks did mount a counter assault of some kind (based on the phone calls) and for that they’re heroes

no idea what actually happened but of course that would have been the right call. The people on that plane were going to die one way or another as terrible as that is

It was in a steep inverted dive. It simply began coming apart. I remember reading a farmer's report of what he saw. He said the plane went over his farm upside down.

No doubt there was a fight and plan to take out the terrorists on board.

Also no doubt that the government shot that plane out of the sky knowing where it was headed.

Parts of the plane were found away from the crash site and eyewitnesses saw it on fire coming down upside down.

Right call. Sucks, though.

Some members of my extended family believe this too based on the scattered debris.

After sleeping half the morning we finally had fighters up by the time flight 93 was hijacked. A jet was seen circling the area right after the crash. But the hijackers most likely crashed it themselves. They were flying erratically back and forth trying to throw off the passengers. Contrary to popular belief the passengers never made it to the controls and the hijackers crashed it in the field.

Up to that point hijacking SOP for airlines was to give into their demands and deal with the situation on the ground. But the pilots fly the planes. Hijackers had never killed the pilots before and flown the plane themselves. Also hijackers flying a plane into a building wasn't even a thought for the airlines.

Flight 93 was the last flight so the passengers heard about the WTC when they called their family which caused them to act. The WTC flights didn't have any warning of what was happening which is why they didn't try to fight.

Yes. No third rate cable channel documentary will change that.

These “they shot it down” theories are almost as dimwitted as the WTC collapse was an inside job.

People who are easily fooled by slick YouTube vids that they watch as “research” and call themselves “truthers” are some of the lowest form of internet idiots.

This day is a really shitty time to be one of those people.

I don't buy the original story. I think everything went according to plan. The cell phone calls from that plane were not made from that plane. The plane was out of reach of cell towers (to high). At that time the highest a cell phone could connect with a tower was about 10K feet. the plane was many times higher than that and traveling at 500+ miles per hour which makes it even more difficult.

That plane was put down (with the recorded phone message to wife) to give Red blooded Americans something to feel proud about during the crisis and help foster the american feelings of we are bad arse and are going to strike at your patriotism to give the gov't the war they wanted.

Those people were murdered by our own gov't.

The official story is that the US launched fighter jets with the intent to shoot down the planes. One pilot is on record saying she took off without weapons but was authorized to use her jet to ram down 93.

Given these facts, it seems silly that the government would admit they were prepared to take down 93, then would lie about that action. The lie serves no purpose. Just conspiracy fodder.

Reasonably so.

The scrambled jets were not armed. Their only choice would have to been to ram the plane - which was considered. That was unnecessary for 93 because of the heroic actions of the passengers.

Period.

Yes, their families have heard the tapes of everything that happened. They told their families on the phone calls that they were planning to fight back. So I believe it, because I’m not going to question their families.

I think what they did is a totally plausible story. Due to Flight 93 being delayed, they were able to find out the fates of the other hijacked flights. Their phone calls with their families confirm this. This left them with the choices of either doing nothing and dying or fighting back and maybe having some chance of surviving. They knew their options and knew that fighting back was the only choice because they were going to die if they did nothing. Also, the recordings capture when Ziad Jarrah (hijacker pilot) asks the other hijacker in the cockpit whether he should crash the plane and the other one eventually tells him to “put it down.”

Later in the year, I flew in to Reagan National at night and had a full view of the brightly lit Capitol dome. It made me very proud to be an American and it also made me think about Flt 93 and what might have happened to that old cast iron and concrete dome had not those doomed Americans on that plane taken matters into their own hands. Bless them all.
