The new Rolex Submariner(s) have been announced plus a 41mm OP

There was a lot of discussion in the last long Rolex thread about the new Rolex models that might come out this year, announced late since Baselworld was canceled.
It was an all new Sub announced in multiple variations. Besides the changes, the Hulk has been discontinued.
The Sub moves up to a 41mm case but the profile is a little thinner. The No date has the new 3230 movement and the date versions the new 3235 I won't bother with the difference compared to the 3130 and 3135 since these have been out in other watches. You can always tell the 32XX movement watches since a crown has been added at 6pm between Swiss and Made. They have the newish upgraded polishing and brushing finishes which in the flesh on other watches that already have the treatment are a very marginal difference to me. They watch has thinner lugs similar to the original Kermit. The number indices have been reduced in size, smaller than the Maxi dial and larger than the previous generation. The Oyster bracelet has been redesigned and while keeping its traditional look the gaps between links are smaller. It keeps the same Glidelock clasp (I wish it had the DSSD version).
Rolex says they will be making more steel watches by making more variations instead of more of an individual watch. So there should be more watches in ADs but the hottest will still be hard to get. I would say all but the full gold Subs are going to be unobtanium for a while unless you are willing to pay a premium or have the special AD connect. Rolex is probably dispatching couriers to Ben Clymer and John Mayers houses so they can write love letters to each other about them.
I think they are a great new sub and I feel like my Hulk and Smurf just made a nice bump in value. Rolex putting in work making me money! That said I am not in the market for any of the new Subs but my wife had me call the AD for one of the turquoise OPs, I knew it was going to happen the second I saw it, she has been looking for an old light blue OP for a while.
The King is dead, long live the King.
No Date 124060 $8100
126619LB White Gold with blue ceramic bezel and black dial replaces the Smurf (blue dial and bezel) $39650
126610LN Date Sub $9150
126613LN Gold and steel black dial $14300
126613LB Gold and steel blue bezel and sial $14300
126610LV Black dial green bezel resurrecting the Kermit look $9550
126618LN Yellow Gold black dial and bezel $36,950
126618LB Yellow Gold blue dial and bezel $36,950
41mm Oyster Perpetual 124300 carries the new 3250 movement and adds double stick markers at 3/6/9 compared to the 39mm OP. They have added a bunch of bright colors.
124300 OP $5900

Is a Rolex a good store if value like fine art and historic cars or do they eventually go out of style and depreciate in value?

I really wish they would have gone smaller (similar to bb 58). I had a 5 digit sub that I loved but would love it with a modern bracelet and ceramic bezel. Cmon Rolex!

Looks a lot like my $60 Invicta

The submariner is the go to watch for people who can’t really afford a Rolex.

I can sell my Rolex submariner in stainless/gold with the blue face for more than I paid for it.

Wut?
There are many cheaper models.

Agree, but I see them wear the submariner the most.

I'm not into watches but honestly i'm fascinated by all of these watch threads and always enjoy them. That white gold watch with the blue bezel is my favorite.

Was hoping they’d come out with a SS smurf

Slightly off topic, how much would you pay for this watch? Coworker has it and it's in mint condition. He's looking for the paperwork but thinks he bought it in the early 2000s. Roughly 43mm.

Cyclops ruins any watch.

I have always wanted a Sub but let's not act like there is some tech in there that warrants the price tag. The Rolex Calibre movement is cool I guess but at the end of the day the watch is 14oz of stainless and a mechanical movement covered by a nice piece of glass.
Now, if it's a gold/white-gold watch you have the precious metals to add value but a stainless Sub for $8-9G? Good for Rolex but that's Beanie Baby level craziness.

None of us would consider that watch so it’s hard to say the value. This is the thread for Rolex owners in case it wasn’t clear.

I really like watches but when it comes down to it I’d rather have collections of cars and guns than watches.
