Since January 2020, nearly 5 million Americans purchased guns for the first time, making up nearly 40% of all retail shop gun sales, according to the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), which is the firearm industry trade association. The FBI's National Instant Background Check System (NICS) shows there were 12.1 million checks between January through July 2020, an increase of 71.7% from "the 7.1 million NSSF-adjusted NICS January through July 2019," reported the association. "This equates to nearly 5 million first-time gun owners in the first seven months of 2020."

I have never considered purchasing a gun until this year.

This typically results in conservative voting patterns. There is no guarantee This year though

I went to pick up a new Glock a while back. The lady said she usually does 5-10 transfers a week and she's now doing 5-10 per day.
The downside was that she said many of them had never held a gun before in their life. Looking down the barrel and all sorts of shenanigans.

That number is higher than 5 million. Many of the first time gun owners have applied for and received a CCW permit. You have to fill out the 4473 but they do not call in the NICS check in most states if you have a current CCW.

And at least two rioters are first-time coffin owners since last week.

Here in La. it is almost impossible to find ammo for any type of firearm. A local sporting goods store has a truck coming in 2 days a week with 9mm ammo. The trucks arrive late the night before to be unloaded & shelves stocked for the store opening next morning. For the last 3 mths, according to a store clerk, by the time the store opens at 8:00 a.m.there are 50+ people waiting in line. A normal truck load provides enough ammo for 30 buyers, who are obviously stocking up. Searching on line is no better.

sure has made it hard to find a gun too....i have more than enough weapons (& ammo for that matter) but had my heart set on a mossberg 88 (short barrel version) 12 guage....none to be found.....bass pro had them on sale a few months ago for something like $130 (list is around $200)...if you can find them now on gunbroker they are nearing $500...think i'll wait

Over the last month, I’ve learned that at least HALF of my neighbors are MAGA. Three of us have Trump flags (one guy is crazy enough to fly his outside). This is in suburban Portland about 5 miles from the heart of the city. Feel very lucky to live in a cul de sac that is so great.

It’s not just those on the right or moderates either.
Leftist scum and a lot of minorities are buying them up for their “revolution.”
Every time I walk in a gun store it’s full of blacks looking at handguns and ARs. And they’re not the family man looking type either that are looking to protect their family. Mostly thuggish dressed ones in their 20s

Not a first time owner but added an AK to the collection on Saturday to go alongside two AR-15’s and a couple handguns.

My brother in law asked for advice on buying a handgun last night. Scary to imagine my sister with a gun but welcome to the party.

As long as this thread is up can I get some recommendations for a decent AR? I don't own anything in that category but would like to change that. I'm not looking to destroy the bank account but I also don't want cheap junk

People are just realizing there is no layer of protection from government.
