Alabama, the group and the band. Amazing, right?

What an incredible group. Forty-hour Week, Song of the South... many others.
One of my favorites is Southern Star: Alabama - Southern Star
I hope this message and song blesses your life the way it has mine.

The group AND the band?

When I refer to the band, I’m referring to the singers and musicians. When I’m speaking of the group, I’m referring specifically to Randy, Teddy, and Jeff.
You sound like a miserable frick, but thank you for your pointless contribution.

Never was a huge Fan, but I liked some of their songs. I met Randy at a cattle auction once, and he was a nice enough guy. Had their Drummer Mark Herndon, play on some demos that I did years ago, he was really cool and really a hell of a drummer.

Friend,
Have you been to their museum in Fort Payne, where the current members now live? It is, to put it mildly, an interesting experience. The museum opens with a stained glass window of all the original members except one who was expelled.
If you do go, be sure to eat at the nearby Western Sizzlin'. Truly a great steakhouse of Alabama.
Yours,
TulaneLSU

They were the first concert I ever attended with my grandparents. After my grandfather passed we found a ticket stub with my name on it in a keepsake box. I think I was 4 years old.
That being said I never really put them on but I really like some of their songs. Iirc 2 tribute albums came out several years ago. One was very mainstream country (Luke Bryan and Jason Aldean etc) and one was more altcountry (Jason Isbell, Turnpike Troubadours, Lucero).

That's a cool story. I went to a couple of The June Jams in Ft.Payne. Those were pretty awesome. 3 days, and every country act who was anybody, would be there. Crowds of 60,000 people or more.

Like some of their stuff, but Song of the South makes me want to strangle puppies

They were my first concert as well, at the Alexandria coliseum. Late 80s I believe.

my grandfather owned partial interest in a few bulls with Randy back in the day.
got to meet him and his family quite a few times.
His wife is one of the nicest most genuine people you will ever meet.

And I change stations every time they come, just like I have for 40 years.
