I doubt they are correct and they are probably just taking a break from COVID fear porn articles.

https://comicbook.com/gaming/news/ps5-playstation-5-console-4k-specs-release-report/

quote:

The report comes way of industry insider and leaker Dusk Golem, who claims they've heard that not only does Microsoft have the more powerful console with the Xbox Series X, but the cheaper console.

quote:

The leaker continued, noting PS5 is struggling with 4K games, which could result in a lot of "fake" 4K on the console:

quote:

A new PS5 report has PlayStation fans very worried about the allegedly underpowered console. According to a new report, not only will the PS5 be more expensive than the Xbox Series X, but its lack of power in comparison to the Xbox console is reportedly causing developers headaches. More specifically, the console is apparently having trouble running games at 4K.

Hasn't this been known for a while though? I feel like these were the sentiments for a long time now.

I don't think the specs were astronomically different, but Xbox looked to be the more powerful system. Issue was that they don't have any games.

XSX is more powerful, but the PS5 faster than light storage was supposed to be the great equalizer. The claim is the 8-9GB/s (compressed) mitigates the need for more power.

Load times are seriously not going to exist on PS5 though. 2GB transfer in .27 seconds.

Load times not existing isnt going to matter if the games stutter along at 4k

Article seems like contrived click-bait.

Why would developers spend the last few months waxing poetically about the PS5 if it was underpowered and producing "fake 4K"?

Those 3rd party devs offering up unsolicited praise on the PS5 is still their public messaging - they wouldn't just throw it out there for no reason.

Doesn’t matter. PS5 will have better games. Xbox can’t even get halo right.

Its pretty well known the Series X is the more powerful console and all the rumors are Microsoft seems determined to undercut Sony on pricing. As with the One X, I'm getting a Series X to have the best third party console gaming experience and Game Pass. If any of the 1st party games are good thats just icing on the cake.

I'll pick up a PS 5 a year or two down the road when they a have a nice library of 1st party games to play at a decent price. I still have a lot more gaming to do on my PS4.

Makes sense if there's a good amount of raytracing going on or they're targeting 120 fps, but it's pretty bad if they aren't doing either of those things.

MS shills are desperately turning their gears to shift the focus to Sony after all the shite the Xbox has been taking for the past few weeks. hate to see it

DG literally came out and said that he released this because Xbox has been getting shellacked and discussion is too one-sided The only leaks he's been accurate on are Resident Evil games. How do we know that Capcom isn't just having trouble optimizing for it? Same developer that had RE3 running shittier on the One X than the PS4 Pro despite the One X's way better specs

I'm gonna go with the plethora of devs that said PS5 is a joy to develop for over a Capcom leaker

ETA: I buy every console every generation and I play PC. I have no bias or agenda for any console. This is just nonsense

very, VERY few games will be able to do 4K/120. I can see games like Ori pulling it off since it's basically 2D, but that's about it. Maybe stuff with cartoony graphics and textures like Fortnite too. Modern PCs with the most current GPUs can't do 4K/120, maybe outside of NASA shite. most people don't even have native 120hz TVs

dont fall for all this 4K/120 marketing fluff that the consoles are putting out. We won't see that kind of performance until PCs get the next generation of GPUs. Expect 4K/60 to be the console performance benchmark for highly-optimized AAA games this gen

FWIW

This is the current list from Digital Foundry(per Microsoft) for Series X games that will support 4K/120

Dirt 5
ExoMecha
Gears 5
Halo Infinite (multiplayer)
Metal: Hellsinger
Ori and the Will of the Wisps
Orphan of the Machine
Second Extinction

Backwards compatibility could also result in 120fps titles, with Series X running some previous-gen games at double their original 60fps frame-rate.

PS5 currently only confirms Dirt 5 so far.

4 of the top 7 selling games of 2020 to date are PlayStation exclusives. And only 2 of the top 10 not on the console. (Nintendo exclusive)

This is your issue bud. Not some flops.

That list just says 120fps, not 4K/120. 1440/120 is very possible. 4K/120 is very unlikely for that list outside of Ori and that dolphin game

We’ll likely see options for a Visual vs Performance mode like what we have with some titles now. Visual will be 4K/30 or 60, and performance will be 1440/60 or 120

With hefty optimization patches, possibly. The machines themselves won’t be able to do that with the extra power alone
