This is going to come down to which bloc of conferences does the best PR job.

Pro fall talking points:

- Football environment is actually safer than letting kids go home.
- Playing in Spring is too hard on the body.

Pro Spring talking points -

- Medical experts think it's not safe for whatever reason (heart stuff, students coming back on campus, whatever)
- Spring is a safer alternative

Most sports fans I believe are aligned with the Fall camp. Non-sports fans are probably more aligned with the Spring or just not play at all.

The SEC group needs to keep slamming the narrative that the kids are actually safer in the football "bubble." It's true and shatters the stupid talking points of the Big 10.

I really think whoever wins the court of public opinion on this one will get what they want.

Spring is just their way of buying time. They won't play in the spring.

I just don't understand why anyone thinks spring football would work. Many players have come out and said you can't physically play 20+ football games in a calendar year. It's cold as shite in the spring for half the country. Plus any senior or junior worth a shite won't play in the spring.

It’s so absurd that the same media members who have been shitting on the idea of a fall season as far back as May are now lauding the idea of a February season as genius and innovative.

Nobody is playing games in the spring.

Same BS as give us 15 days to slow the spread.

Im fully on board with the science side of things. But none of it points to spring being any safer or playing football in the fall being dangerous. I truly feel like being with the teams is gonna prevent more players from going places to catch the virus than cause them to.

SEC and ACC should stick to their guns and play their seasons and show everyone how stupid the Pac 12 and Big Ten were for ruining their players seasons for no reason

We need a MSB show of hands to see who actually believes spring football is possible. I hope people aren't actually buying that.

You aren’t going to be any safer in the spring. The spring talking point is a total sham. One lie after another with this and people keep eating it up.

Spring Fall has an advantage by being completely fictional so they can say whatever they want because it will never happen

Exactly, this isn't about playing in the spring. It's about not flat out cancelling 2020 season. They can kick the can to the spring, then cancel in the spring while making these kids spend the fall working out and practicing. If they cancel now, the kids who aren't worried about school can just start training for the NFL and they don't want that.

I think Spring is total bullshite too.

The Big 10 has always been such an a-hole league.

From their stupid shite with the Rose Bowl and on and on. I can't stand that league.

The SEC, ACC, and Big 12 can have the greatest PR teams of all time speaking out for them and the nitwits that call themselves college football journalists will mercilessly bash whatever the PR teams say.

They can't play in the spring. The better players get drafted and will not risk their careers. The season would be too close to the fall 2021 season for the "safety" and recovery of the players, so spring ballers would likely miss two fall seasons. Teams that play in the spring will get crushed in recruiting. Playing in the spring will be suicide for any program or conference. Come early spring they will have another excuse to push it back to Fall 2021.

Let them sit. Let their programs crumble. Let the bigger conferences become super conferences. Let the better teams from the wussy conferences leave for the new super conferences. You can't force your opinion on everyone as you want, so reap what you sow.

exactly. there's so many different nuances to why people are pushing it. politics of a november election, attendance will be down without football (which is why they waited till a week before students came back and after releasing a schedule to cancel,) players unionizing, academic eggheads holding athletic departments hostage, etc.

if colleges had said back in June "we're not having football," they would have hemorrhaged attendance and donations.

One thing I don't buy is the election component of this.

That has nothing to do with this.

It has everything to do with the Pac and Big being afraid of getting sued.

I think what has spooked the presidents is the findings of cardiac pathology even in asymptomatic individuals. Nobody wants their school associated with a kid who dropped dead on the field. Those fears may be unfounded, nobody knows if the findings are significant or not yet. But the fear is there.
