I did when I was like 22 working at a sporting goods store. Wasn't happy with what I was doing with life really and knew that I just needed to do something drastic. Showed up late one day then clocked out for lunch and never went back.
Shortly after I moved, started working at what I thought I might want to do for a career, at a golf course, then soon after went back to school and graduated.
It really wasn't planned. I just woke up that day and decided I was done.

Yep.
Starting 20+ years ago. We would have a big party at our camp the weekend before squirrel season opened. It has now been dubbed "SquirrelFest". Anyway. I was on my way offshore the afternoon of one of the first ones. I was in BAton Rouge heading to the heliport. I said frick it and turned around pretty much quitting right then and there. It was one of my best times in life! If I knew then what I knew now........I still would have done it!!

There has been a trend I’ve noticed with people just dragging up in professional positions. I’m talking six figure quit with no notice. It’s so bizarre I find it strange.
We have had two in the company I know of do it in last three months.

Only once and it was a part-time job while in college. I was the late shift produce guy and it was part of my job to pull all the displays and ice everything down. I had made up my mind that I would start working plant jobs in between semesters, so I gave my supervisor a week notice. The very next day, a coworker of mine said that the supervisor was planning on getting rid of the younger guys anyway, so I started the shift pissed off. Around 7 that night my best friend stopped by and told me that he had a case of beer iced down in his truck...and I walked out leaving shite everywhere.

Last month, first day on the job..."Sorry, this isn't going to work for me!"

I did when I was mechanicing in my twenties. Service writers were laughing about another guy having trouble with a car he was working on. I told them “you think that’s funny watch this, tell Mr Harris I left because he makes us work with assholes” Raised my tool box on a lift and dropped it into the back of my truck and left. Had a new job the next day

Trashy as frick

Yep, my first job. McDonald's.
I was one of the guys who unloaded supply trucks for the store, in addition to the usual fast food kitchen worker.
When I started doing it they had 2 delivery days: a large one on Wednesday where they'd pay 3 guys to come in for a couple hours to unload and stock the plsce and they'd get a free meal. Then also a small one on Sunday where you'd unload the truck in about an hour then work a 4 hour shift.
After a few months of working the Sunday truck, management changed it to half Sunday and half Wednesday. They only had 2 guys do the Wednesday truck and they didn't have to work after. They didn't change anything for the Sunday truck.
It started taking me 3 hours to unload that truck myself and it was physically exhausting work. I complained and asked for help and never got any. They started giving me grief for taking so long. I strained and pulled muscles almost weekly and would get more and more angry until one day I snapped. I was throwing the boxes of hamburger patties across the freezer and pissed off, punching and kicking stuff.. I decided it wasn't worth it. Tapped the shift manager on the shoulder, said "hope you have a nice life, I quit" and walked out.
Never regretted it but haven't walked out on anyone since.

First job out of college, about 4 months in. I was called up over the week end and bitched at for not showing up that Saturday to work when I had no idea I was suppose to be there. I was unhappy there and this phone call was the last straw. I decided on quiting while driving in that next Monday. Took a left and went to my favorite coffee shop and told my boss I quit via email. Got a better paying job three months later.

Late 1970’s I was a cook at McDonald’s making $2.75 an hour slightly over minimum wage while in high school.
Hot chick came in with short shorts and tube top with some nice ones.
Like to round, not too flat, they were just right.
Asm said man she hot and wants to talk to you.
Asm got me from the back and let me sit down with her to talk.
She said let’s go down to the beach to make out.
I was gone did not even clock out and jumped into her MG car.
Yes, it was worth quitting.
Next week got a job making more part time while in High School at a sporting goods store building rods and cleaning fishing reels getting paid by the reel fixed or rod built.

On many occasions, usually when I realize a job isn't a good fit.
I'm not going to waste my time giving a 2 weeks notice to an employer if I haven't been there for a while or I don't plan on putting the position on my resume.

Once, when I was 34 years old.
Traveling the country running crews recabling plants for VOIP, home 1 day a week for about 18 months.
Got a call we were finally chosen for adoption. Went in and told my boss I needed to work locally more (plenty of local work) I was told that I could have a family or have a job.
I gently placed my office and truck keys on his desk and calmly walked out.
