You're at work one day, and say "Frick it", I'm out. Either on the spot or at the end of your shift....and without any other job prospects pending.

Was team leader at Lowes years ago. My boss or the store manager said some slick shat. Never got clarity on who...just punched out at lunch and never came back in.

A few times when I was younger. Always knew I could find something else and I had a good cushion.

Yes.

Age 22 and age 29.

I was burnt out both times.

At 29 I only took 4 months off. But it was glorious.

I quit a 39 year job that way. Was giving serious thought about quitting for about two months. Then one day at work I said to myself ‘I’m done.’ Called my financial advisor and asked if I could quit ‘right now.’ He said yes. Walked into my boss’s office and resigned.

I was working as a grocery bagger and had the worst panic attack of my life with no real trigger. Never went back.

Haven’t done it with a professional job even though I’ve wanted to on a few occasions.

I did quit my job on impulse at a Chick Fil A back in college though. Worked a morning shift as the drive thru cashier. I was called by a manager later that day who told me my register was $10 short and that I would have to pay back the money. As someone who had worked there for a couple of years with no previous issues, this really pissed me off at the time. Returned to the store later that day, gave the manager a $10 bill and told them I was done.

In hindsight, it probably wasn’t the most mature way to handle things. Can’t say I completely regret it though. The lady that operated the store was a major passive aggressive douche.

Offered to one day (many years ago). Was getting chewed out by supervisor for not understand some the tasks we were doing (I was very new on the job).

He made the threat of running me off due to my ignorance. I told him he could either explain the tasks, or fire me - didn't matter to me.

Thankfully he backed down. I say "thankfully "because I ended up working for that company for 4 summers and then for 14 more years full-time. (That guy was long gone before I began working full time). Then I started my own company with the experience I gained working there.

That company went under about 10 years ago. My firm is still growing (knock on wood).

I walked out of a meeting with a client and my boss. My boss loved my design but when the client balked my boss flipped and told the client he hadn't seen the design and would fix it. See ya......he called me the next day and asked me to come back as he was just playing good cop. I went back but started my own design firm about 6 months later and took some of his clients with me. I guess what I'm saying is take some time to formulate a plan before you quit.

Teaching 3rd grade in the ghetto right after my Mom died. Shawanda digging in my purse was the last straw. I was teacher #4 that year and known as the mean white lady. I walked out at noon and the assistant principal chased me down as I drove off. I’m still ashamed I did that.

Yes I have. When I was 19 and crazy as shite I had a yankee boss that got personal with some curse words when he was addressing me. I stopped what I was doing, told him I understand that he’s upset, and I don’t mind him using foul language because he’s upset, but don’t directly curse at me. I told him he could curse about the company, what the idiots did to piss him off to begin with, but the next time he called me a mother fricker I’d beat his arse. The guy smarted off and I beat his arse black and blue from head to toe in short order. I walked directly to my truck, went home, and studied for an exam I had in the morning. The next day the CEO finally got a hold of me, we didn’t have cell phones then, asked me what happened, and he sent that yankee packing. I’m on the board of directors for this very same company now and I’m 50.

I worked a sales job for about two weeks once and walked out during a team meeting. Everyone had warned me about the arrogance and general dickheadedness of the owner and his sales manager, but I didn’t think they were being serious.

I was wrong.

The very first meeting I attended he started off by yelling at us for being poor and driving shitty cars. He said that was the reason we couldn’t sell. Then he told us all he wanted us to submit our fingerprints and facial recognition for a new time clock system he was going to be installing to “keep us in line.”

I laughed in his face and walked out.

The term ‘baw’ is overused on the OT. You are a true baw though.

I think we all consider doing just that when we are overwhelmed. The tricky part is knowing when to actually make that jump
