This never happened you say? Ruston, LA is a small town with a propensity to gossip. Anyone that works in the lumber and timber products industry that are around my age or older will tell you I did exactly what I said I did.

I know an idiot who did. He was one of those delusional people you meet who build such wild narratives they believed in. He believed that if he quit, he could end up going anywhere and getting a job making 20-30k more than he did. He was also them at guy who always bitched about not being paid enough to managers in team meetings.
And they he ducked up badly several times in a row and then he quit with the plan of his girlfriend providing for him till he found something else. This was probably 6 months ago.
I was just told he had reapplies to his old job.
There’s no way I have the humility to come back after that.

Was supervisor over nine people and was told to promote an employee after another had quit. 2 weeks later my boss tells me to tell the promoted employee he was no longer promoted with no reason. I told him to do it himself & was told it was my job or else. I said see ya!
5 miles down the road it hit me that wasn't the smartest move . Luckily I already had a paying gig as a solo musician playing 4 nights a week and landed a better paying full time job 3 weeks later.
44 years later I recently retired from that new industry. Worked out for me in the long run. It still gives me a smile thinking about the look on my boss' face when I got up and left.

Nice. When I quit on the spot Feb 19, I quit for good. I will have some side hustle stuff, but I can tell anyone in the world to frick off (outside of LEO) and no repercussions.
