And I’m tired of people acting like there is a difference between this having a landfall in TX vs LA. The difference is a damn small river. The Euro is not very far off from the other models. It just happens to end up on the TX side. People act like that’s a different continent.

Well, it's going to make a massive difference for some people.

You realize that if this is a Cat 4 a difference of 20 miles makes a huge difference right?

See Michael

Total devastation vs minimal damage 20 miles away

The difference is it could dump a shite load of rain on Houston, and turn it into a washtub

To demonstrate just how difficult the NHCs job is, this is the GFS-Para ensemble to counter the Euro's. Still a world of difference 2 days out.

Obviously, you don't have immediate family in either area. I assume a lot of our fellow posters do.

European ensemble run. It's time to evacuate #Houston. Potential Category 4 or 5 hurricane arrives late Wednesday. You can always return if it shifts course a hair, but riding it out is not the best option, nor waiting until the last minute. #txwx #houwx #HurricaneLaura

What does RI do to the forward movement of storms, do they speed up, slow down, or does it have any effect on movement at all?

I was born and raised in Beaumont and my entire family lives there.

I was trying to reply to my earlier post about Houston. I see a lot of people on another board, not this one, who are taking this Euro landfall to mean Houston destruction. I was not at all clear and should have explained more.
