Fourteen murders are included in that figure, according to the sources. Last year, there were only five murders citywide during that time.
On Sunday alone, there were 15 shooting incidents across the city with 18 victims, compared to only two with two victims on the same day last year, police said. Six murders were reported.
The fatal victims include a 16-year-old boy who was shot in the head at a basketball court in George Walker Jr. Park in Cypress Hills around 6:40 p.m.
An 18-year-old man who was also shot in the head during the same incident is listed in critical condition at Kings County Hospital Center, and another victim, 17, who was struck in the leg, was taken to Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center in stable condition.
And about 20 minutes later in Flatbush, a 32-year-old man was shot and killed around 7 p.m. outside of an apartment building on East 16th Street, between Cortelyou and Dorchester roads, police said.
The gunplay continued around 11:30 p.m. when a 29-year-old man was shot in the foot after a dispute on Fulton Street near Jerome Street in Cypress Hills and taken to Brookdale with non-life-threatening injuries.
The male suspect took off after the incident, cops said.
On Saturday, the city saw six shooting incidents with six victims, compared to two incidents with four victims that day last year. Eight shooting incidents with 10 victims occurred on Friday, compared to last year’s figure of five with five victims.
The violence continued into early Monday with a trio of shootings over a two-hour period.

Everybody knew this would happen. The question is why would elected leaders let this happen?

I find it odd that the article compares it to a specific random date a year ago. I get it if it's the 4th of July or New Years' Day. But just a random day? Odd. Comparing the number of shootings and deaths through that day last year, that makes sense.

Those strict gun control laws are really working.....

I think the problem is that all the other laws are not strictly enforced city-wide anymore.

I want to be a part of if, New York, New York,
Don’t want to get shot in the city with no police,

The mayor needs to get on the roof to light up the Virture Signal so the Social Workers know it's time to scramble to help heal the community.

They really need to do a "Mayor of the Year" award this year for these assholes. It would be very difficult to narrow it down to 5.

We’ve seen this in BR. The mayor signals that she’s soft on crime, she talks bad about the cops and the thugs go into overdrive.

But didn't they remove the Teddy Roosevelt statue? How are these crimes still happening?

Ideologically-possessed Leftists don’t care about results. They care about projecting SJW good intentions. What is important here, is that we all realize how well- intentioned and race-evolved Ruling Class Democrats are, and how much emotional catharsis White Progressives feel when they engage in street chaos. Shootings, death, ruined lives, plummeting property values—that will just be projected onto Trump , White people and Republicans.

At what point is the FBI's drug and gang task force gonna do its job? I thought this was the law and order president. Instead we have people taking over federal property left and right. Killing each other. It is embarrassing. We are an embarrassment to the world with our reality show president. He's good for late night comedy tho

They are already on the ground in Chicago. NYC doesn’t want their police to cooperate.

Clearly a lack of social workers

DeBlasio might be the only worse politician than Destroya.

So all of this killing and rioting is Trump's fault? These liberal cities said they don't want feds coming in. Only 1 city actually has local law enforcement working with them. Are you trolling?

Rioting/protests and gang crime are separate and should be treated and investigated separately. If gang investigations lead to the same people rioting then so be it. I don't think the people in Chicago protesting and tearing down statues are the same groups in Southside Chicago shooting up funerals. I could be wrong but I'd bet both my nuts I'm not.
