is it on Roku? no

oh ok, well I have a ps4 and xbox one. i installed the app on my xbox one and...it won't validate my account because

...it won't accept my HBO subscription via Amazon Prime

so, instead of just having a Roku app like every other provider, i have to use another outlet AND switch my Prime-based membership to Hulu

seriously what the frick?

I'm still waiting for Frontier to add their name to the list of providers so I can get it for free

And failures to secure deals with Roku and Amazon are also at the root of HBO Max's unavailability on those companies' popular streaming devices. Roku or Amazon Fire TV together represented 70% of the streaming devices in the country last year. And if HBO Max users are anything like people who stream Netflix, the vast majority of viewing hours would be on televisions. HBO Max says it has apps for Roku and Fire TV ready to go. But the service must work out deals with both companies first. Thursday, AT&T's CEO dressed down Amazon for keeping HBO Max away from customers, while staying silent on Roku.

If it lacks apps on both, then HBO is the problem

Even if HBO stops being a crazy a-hole, it still won't let me use it via my Amazon-based HBO account

This problem is just as much Roku's fault as it is HBO’s.

What if the smart tv has Roku as its platform?

It's absurd to think that any AT&T company gives a single frick about their customers or potential customers.

Bad timing for them from my POV. I have been cancelling things that are pissing me off left and right. Already made my peace with giving up college football when the first knee hits the ground. HBO is going away from my Roku tv's on the 31st? OK. Easy solution. In years past, I would have kept paying until they caught up. The benefit of all this craziness putting me in a foul mood is that I will save some money in spite of myself.

Going through the same thing with PeacockTV. Really wanted to start Yellowstone from the beginning. One tv has a Roku box the other is an Amazon Fire TV. Peacock isn’t available on either one. Wtf?

Roku is asking for he same terms that they have with Disney+, Hulu, Showtime, Starz and every other service yet they are at fault?
