I'm curious what the school system does for the children of teachers.

California senator said 1 parent needs to quit work to stay home, if it means selling a car or moving into less expensive housing then so be it, peoples lives are at stake

And watch how its mostly women that make the sacrifice.

Then this same senator will be bitching about sexism on company employee roles down the road.

Also gives the schools a couple of more weeks to get bus, food, cleaning, etc details ironed out.
If this really is a reason, what the frick have they been doing since March?

Private schools too?

Nope. Got an email today from my child’s school. Starting on time (August 6th) with everyone back in the classroom 5 days per week. 4th-8th have to wear face masks.

Anyone know of any secular private schools in Baton Rouge that will be returning? I know Runnels shut down. I’ll pay if it means they will be in the classroom.

99% have a waiting list. The catholic ones have a tiered system for their waiting lists. Pretty much below:

1. Catholic, Parishioners, live in the parish & at least one child already attending the school.
2. Catholic, Parishioners, live outside the parish & at least one child already attending the school.
3. Catholic, Parishioners, live in the parish
4. Catholic, Parishioners, Live outside the parish
5. Catholic
6. Everyone else.

And I bet that waiting list just got a lot longer since the diocese of BR schools will be going back full time and EBRP probably won’t go back for the entire school year.

I’m not sure why they even bothered with their announcement last week if they were considering this option at all.

Crap, in that case, I’m screwed. Well, since I’ll have to quit my job, I guess I’ll open my own little in-home elementary school. Anybody interested?

There wasn’t an announcement last week. It was to notify the school board of the proposed plan to open dialogue. The newspaper jumped the gun even though if you watch the school board meeting most school board members were against it and threaten to push start date back to after Labor Day. And hate to say this if JBE announces phase 1 or schools EBR can’t meet in person private schools will be online. I know a private school teacher at a big school and their admin said we are hoping to be in person but most likely will be online

My wife is a teacher and she is very angry. She is 10000% against virtual teaching and it make things more complicated. Plus the students don’t really benefit from it either
