Who knows for sure that Israel is thinking?
But, if I were Israel, I would feel quite certain that a Joe Biden Presidency might not be as friendly towards Israel as did the Obama Presidency. Biden's Admin would be much worse for Israel than Trump's.
As such, Israel might be taking some direct action to soften up Iran, in case of a Biden Presidency that might consider such action as acts of war against a possible ally (Iran). The Obama/Biden Administration was fairly friendly with Iran.
Finally, the US Jewish community and Israel may be drifting apart, as the US Democratic Party accelerates away from being "Liberal" and aggressively lunges at being the Marxist Party. Israel probably mistrusts ALL Marxist nations.
Yes, for sure, the earliest Bolshevik/Marxists counted many Jewish folks in their leadership, but, I doubt that these folks were religiously observant. Today's Israel is Observant and an enemy of Marxism, IMHO.

It's not just the 7 ships, there have been multiple explosions occurring around Iran at various military/research sites for several weeks now.
