Without some type of dramatic event (war) that changes the course of the nation, then it will take as long to reverse it as it did to get here.

Things like this don't change overnight without some serious event to change public opinion.

Had 9/11 never happened in 2001, but happened today, I wonder what the countries reaction to it would be. As horrible as that event was, at least it brought us together for a while, even through it didn't last.

We can’t fight a war. We have a segment of the population that won’t even call the police when they get mugged.

Zero fight. They’ve been taught that the fastest way to end any conflict is to surrender.

The young weep and cry over “hate speech”. They consider contrary statistics “violence”. I honestly do t think they could handle actual violence or people shooting live ammo at them.

They’d just b*tvh about how “unfair” it is.

I'm not talking about the Supreme Court. I'm talking about these activist judges and DAs who do stupid shite like prosecute the couple in STL for protecting their property or prosecute that officer in Atlanta for putting down a wild animal.

Agreed, I am sure we don't have the national will power to sustain any war that requires sacrifices to be made by the population.

The national spirit and willingness to sacrifice that we saw from our population during WW2 would never happen today.

Clearly visible from the COVID response. Instead of rallying it turned into "Orange Man Bad fest" -- an opportunity to sew even more division. Instead of saying "what can I do to help?" it became "how can b*tch and blame Trump more on social media?". It's sick.

That "fringe movement" is firmly in control of the media, academia, and the Democrat Party.

Then fight back. You know where they are.

If you're not willing to do drastic things, plant your flag on a hill, and dare them to come and take it, then it's not worth wasting oxygen over.

Beyond being more active in the political process (Vote, Donate, Volunteer) what else do you propose people do?

Or put another way, this upcoming election is an extinction event for somebody.

You're half right.

If the left wins, it's an extinction event for the right.

But if the right wins, the left, due to their complete control of the media, education, and entertainment, will just slink back in the the shadows and continue to spin their webs and plot their next move.

Until the right makes some inroads in to the three headed snake of media, academia, and entertainment, we are playing a game of attrition where will will die from a thousand cuts.

I tend to agree with him. I know I have no interest in coexisting with a bunch of baby killing, virtue signaling bullshite liberals and would gladly support splitting the country so I could live with fellow conservatives. All liberals are sick fricks and I have no use for them

Maybe Trump's coming landslide reelection will pull those institutions back from the abyss but I'm not convinced. They'll dial back the talk but we see where their heart lies.

He won in 2016, and it only got worse. The 1% of the 1% are against Trump and against us, and they won't be stopped by any election. I believe that they would have to be strung up publicly for a real reversal of direction, but that's probably impossible, and anyway, the rot has so thoroughly infected our institutions and the mind of the general public that it probably wouldn't make a difference.

If Trump wins the election, they will attempt to remove him again. I'd bet money on that.

As for traditions, our national holidays like Thanksgiving and Columbus Day have been abolished in many quarters, and that trend is rapidly gaining speed.

I'm aware that Columbus Day has been abolished in several places. Texas never recognized it as a state holiday (though we recognize every other one). This one doesn't bother me as much: Columbus never set foot in our country. If anything, Jamestown Day, Plymouth Rock Day, or Leif Eriksson Day makes more sense.

But where is Thanksgiving being abolished?

Let blue states be one country and red the other.

If that could be done without war i would take it in a heartbeat

A vast majority of the land is “red.” Why should we give up all of that land? Give them most of California, and whoever goes can never come back.

Give them California, Oregon, and Washington. If Hawaii goes too, we move our Pacific Fleet to Alaska.

They would not last five years before begging to come back.

I think so to. And I think they would be very direct. They’d bus protestors to Washington, they’d create a hell storm in the media, they’d pressure the bureaucracy to denounce him. They would try and do what we did in Serbia, or in Ukraine.

Someone up thread asked - what can you do?

This is scenario that could end in civil war.
