Callaway making a big impression on Ed Orgeron

I read really good things about Callaway when he was hired. Credit to O and Co. for finding what looks like some quality replacements for the guys we lost.

Back in Baton Rouge, Orgeron replaced Brady with longtime NFL coordinator Scott Linehan, a familiar face to football fans.
Orgeron's other hire: Russ Callaway, a 2010 graduate of Valdosta State who has been on the fast track up the coaching ladder.
Callaway most recently spent five seasons on the Samford football coaching staff, including four as the program's offensive coordinator. He coached the team’s quarterbacks after overseeing the wide receivers during his first two seasons on staff.
As a unit in 2018, Samford's offense led the nation in passing yards per game (392.7) behind the arm of Devlin Hodges, who earned his first NFL start as a rookie with the Pittsburgh Steelers this past season. The offense ranked fourth nationally in total offense (515.9 ypg.), and eighth in both red zone offense (.898) and first downs (298).
Callaway was part of two BCS National Championship teams at Alabama, where he worked on Nick Saban's staff as an analyst. He's the son of Neil Callaway, who was UAB's head coach from 2007-11 and most recently spent three seasons as Southern Cal's offensive line coach.

"He is Ensminger’s right hand man. He does a lot of work for us and has a lot of energy. I think he is a great young coach."
Moving through the summer months, Callaway has grown even closer to LSU's play caller on offense, putting his focus into carrying the 2019 production into the future for a program that is experiencing a long-awaited seismic shift in offensive philosophy.
"Russ works strictly with Coach Ensminger as the offensive coordinator, so he is making cut ups and breaking down film and knows all the offense and the adjustments Ensminger has to make," Orgeron said. "He puts them on paper and sits by Ensminger’s side all day. Those two work great together."

They better not cancel this season.

So.....why did we pay a ton of money for Linehan? Sounded like he was Brady's replacement, but then here's Callaway...

I've said Callaway could be our passing game cd down the road. The other analyst lsu has from the browns is also a up-and-comer also

I'm betting that if Callaway continues to do a good job that Ensminger will groom him to be his replacement at OC when he retires in a few years.

He is Brady's replacement. As like Brady, he is the passing game coordinator and coaches wide receivers. Moreover, Linehan makes the same money that Jerry Sullivan made when he was the passing game coordinator at LSU.

I understand he is big in recruiting.

Callaway is not Brady’s replacement , he’s Munoz’s replacement.

This was the sentiment last year with Brady. Hopefully, we just keep finding innovative minds to keep us moving forward. I know E won’t be around for ever, but maybe we can develop offensive minds that can then go prove themselves elsewhere and eventually hire them back when it is time for E to leave.

I just did. Linehan makes $800,000/year. Which is exactly the same amount of compensation Sullivan was paid.
Go google it yourself if you don't believe me.

Tyler Tettleton...
fun fact...Tyler’s dad is former Detroit Tiger 3b and MLB all-star Mickey Tettleton. He was also a record setting QB at Ohio Univ, playing when Joe Burrow’s dad was DC and Joe going to the games.

Sounds like he is this years Brady, not Linehan.

He is another name to watch. Learned under Lincoln Riley and has some NFL experience with the Jets and Browns.
