And only 600 of the 1,362 beds are classified as Covid ICU cases and of those 600 how many have other underlying conditions that actually put them in the ICU?

And how long are these 'COVID cases' in ICU beds. My guess, less than 48 hours, so they can stack the stats.

The reality is ICUs are normally 95% full. Hospitals don’t have the money to have a bunch of open unused ICU rooms.

It is almost like they think we should maintain 50% capacity of the ICUs for when they are needed...

Had a friend before Christmas that spent time in the ICU because he wrecked in water and almost drowned... They had to hunt for an ICU bed that could accept him at that point...

What do you think should be done? Be specific.

First it was ventilators, ventilators, ventilators.
Then we discovered there was no shortage.
Now its ICU beds.

I wonder how tests are calculated in this scenario. Are we getting one test counted for the confirmed positive, but adding 17 cases including probable to the overall case count?

That would certainly explain why the percent positive of tests is rising. Even if they added 17 tests to the test count, that's still a 100% positive rate in that anecdote, which would cause the positive test rate to go up.

They will open themselves up to look foolish if they do. They clamored for it closing for nearly half the time it was open.

If for any reason you are getting surgery after all these months of postponing such and requires ICU or post-op you are being checked and counted, I just went through that with my son .

Can’t hide the facts and try to manipulate the numbers when everyone already knows that the cases have skyrocketed - and the evidence is plain to see in the hospitalizations.

Lol thanks for proving my point....cases have skyrocketed now that positive cases are presumptive positive cases solely because they believe you could have been in contact with someone...

You have the supporting data on your hospitalizations from COViD? Not bed usage, but actually bed usage due to Covid and no other medical issues. Haha....data is out there on this, wonder how many patients are on ventilators? It should be up dramatically if your argument holds right?

Link to your data supported BS? Can’t wait to read it!

From what I have heard it is a 7 day total. The range of turn around times for tests makes a daily positivity rate a useless number. 10 people can be swabbed today and 2 will have a result in 24 hours with 8 being send outs to various labs with a 3-10 day turn around. They cant be counting probables. That would destroy their already challenged credibility.

Yes that is what they are doing...they have one actual positive test and that one is extrapolated to “X” number of cases without any testing done on these individuals....they are just assumed to be positive and counted to the cases.

What these dumb asses are not even seeing is this will cause mortality rate to plummet even more then it already has which was the standard benchmark like 4 benchmarks ago...it changes so much I can’t keep track

Specifically - YOU should stop politicizing the issue and accept that local leaders have a real health crisis to manage.

I think a lot of these real-time statistics are useless, based on the timing factors you mentioned. It's like watching the Dow Jones and having an extreme reaction to every move in either direction.

I say useless, but I suppose it's serving a purpose of maintaining hysteria. People don't freak out about a bad flu season because we don't know it's bad until well after it is over. I feel like some people don't want to miss the opportunity with COVID by doing something reasonable like analyzing long-term trends before reporting.

Enough with the nonsense conspiracy BS.

Texas COVID Portal

Then the body count
Then, look over there! It's BLM!!!
Then masks
Now muh beds

The only way libs stfu about corona is if Biden wins. Then it'll vanish like a fart in the wind.

Crisis is overstated. Certainly in the short term.

I haven’t met a person who thinks it’s a crisis that isn’t a Democrat voter. That’s weird, right?

Not really. Like I said, everything is tailored to make the weak minds panic... Democrat voters tend to fit that mold better than most...

My attitude is that I would rather deal with it head on now. I don’t want to jeopardize the school year and fall athletics having to be shut down.
