Wear the stupid crappy mask

First of all, as a constitutional law student, can you tell me which constitutional provisions some of you believe are being violated? Seriously I am all in favor of expanding individual constitutional rights 90% of the time but I don’t see anything to work with here. Like my old professor used to say Your constitutional right to spread out and stretch your arm stops right when you touch your neighbors nose. But I open to being persuaded, so let’s have it.

On the damn mask, I litigated against the disposable mask industry including, 3M, MSA, and all the manufacturer’s for over a decade. I know more about the testing, certification, design, and history of the 8720 and its successors and variants than any man every should. They are not great by even their experts. Also, due to fit issues, humidity , heat etc I doubt that they will give you the protection they are indicating from Covid-19. With those caveats, they will give a significant degree of protection to other people from you. So the real purpose is to protect the public from you. Hence, if we all wear the damn things then we are all as a “community” protecting each other. So even though I think they are collectively “garbage” and I know the 8710 now the 8210 was originally designed to be a women’s bra, it doesn’t fit a significant number of people’s faces well, and the rigged or lied about the certification, etc I wear a mask any time I am in the public. Not to project me but to protect the community from me.

So yes, these mask are POS, they will not prevent you from getting Covid, nothing will. Osterholm admitted that in his first interview with Joe Rogen. But if we all wear them in public, do social Distancing, regular hand washing, etc we can hopefully spread this out long enough, not overload our health system and make it to a vaccine or herd immunity and to keep the fatalities in the 200-500,000 range, depending on timing of the vaccine.

Otherwise, the deaths may be over a million to million and a half or more. That’s like losing the population of Mississippi, and welcome to the second Great Depression.

So wear the stupid crappy mask like the rest of us and quit bitching about it. None of us like this
