Was in Venice last weekend. On the way back to the marina, we saw a black bull walking in the marsh. I’ve only been out there 3 or 4 times so it was quite puzzling to me. Maybe that’s what you heard

Have you notified the white boys in Antifa? Pretty sure them and their purple-haired wives could find plenty of work for that bull...

ETA: check a few threads down. I think I found a nice LSU professor that has a need.

In Michigan and have been startled a few times by animals (bears, badgers, coyotes, grey wolf once and face to face with coon coming down from above my tree stand) but nothing creepy for me.

Did they catch the woman?

I was hunting in Tunica Hills and walking the bottom of a gully. An eerie voice that sounded like it was coming from all around me said "loup...it's ok if you run". I'm pretty sure it was one of my podnuhs trying to freak me out but they were supposed to be on the other side of the WMA and none of them ever admitted to it.

Was in Mississippi and heard some brush crashing. It was 5 wild dogs, no collars, and ribs all showing. I started hollering at them and they gave no ground. Started closing in on me. I had a single shot rifle and a knife. Luckily the shot scared 4 of them off.

According to the story, that’s the only reason he knew that she had escaped, it came on the news the next day that she had been caught.

Walking to the deer stand before sunrise. I'm about 14 or 15.

Cold morning - just under 20 degrees. Very dark - overcast and not much moonlight. No moonshadow at all. One of the coldest I have ever experienced. The long grass in the field (normally about knee high) is pushed much flatter and frosted over and there is a slight crunch when you walk on it. Due to the darkness, I had veered a bit off of the cut portion of shorter grass. As I'm walking {soft crunch}, {soft crunch} I start hearing another set of soft crunches.

I stop immediately - breathe caught, ears straining. The other crunches stop. I wait. I take a hesitant step {soft crunch}. I pause. I hear another soft crunch. I start thinking about what it could be, and realize as cold as it is, it may not matter if its something that needs warm food its belly. I know I'm not terribly far from the tree stand.

I start sprinting (in retrospect a dumb move as it may have initiated a predator response) - or at least trying to sprint as best I can in long johns, insulated coveralls, etc.. I see the copse of trees and beeline straight to the ladder, scrambling up in a panic. I turn as I sit, breathing heavy. Don't see a single thing. As i get my breathing under control I don't hear anything.

Twenty or so minutes later, as light started to grow, I could see the foot prints in the grass - slightly darker polka dots along the frosted grass. I see mine clearly coming from the direction I came. I can even see where i had accidentally veered off the cut grass. I see a whole bunch of tracks all around that grass, criss crossing. Its about a 100 yard by 70 yard stretch.

I have no idea what it was, but its polka dot tracks weren't any smaller than mine.

The other weird thing is that the woods stayed silent for a lot longer than I can ever remember as the light filtered in. No birds calling, no squirrels. No sounds for the longest time. Sun was long visible before I started hearing anything move around.

The most uneasy Ive ever ever felt in woods was when me, my dad, uncle, and one of his friends went out hunting on our family land in Mississippi One morning. We had an old camp that was the meeting grounds before and after hunts and out in the middle of nowhere. Well that morning when we pulled in we could tell there had been some people around because some trash on porch and beer cans around but thought maybe some other family came out days before and didn’t pick up after themselves but quite a bit of trash inside and out. I remember my dad was pissed cause obviously people had some fun there And wrecked the place. Well it’s quite a ways to the hunting spot so we head out the 4 wheelers and about the last 1/2 mile to go we see some more trash on ground on the trail and then all of a sudden over a hill and at the bottom of a flat there is 9 tents set up and remind you it’s still dark and moon bright but I have that image burned in my mind to this day. We stopped and my dad acting like Billy Badass was going to go run them off but my uncle talked some sense in him at first. Of course I’m nervous because it’s so quiet and no movement or fire around the tents so makes you wonder if anyone is in those tents cause they would’ve heard us coming so you feel eyes on you and every crack of a branch or noise you think maybe they’re Moving around you. Well my dad starts hollering Asking if anyone down there and they shouldn’t be on this property. Nothing said so he shoots his gun in the air as a warning, nothing, so he shoots at a branch over the nearest tent to hopefully really make them nervous this time and still nothing. So what felt like hours but by this time maybe15-20 minutes later the sun slowly starting to come up at this point and we drive closer to the tents with guns locked and loaded (with safety on) we drive fast around the site circling and seeing what would happen and scare someone out so my uncle decides him and my dad would start checking tents. All 9 tents were in good shape and had clothes and some wrappers and things they would have been eating but not a soul In them. But each tent was zipped up I guess so nothing gets in them but for each one I felt more nervous but after that we got out of there and waited a few days to come back. When My dad and some others did go back for first time it was all gone but they drove all around land to see if Still on property that morn but nothing, but it made us wonder if they packed up after we had left or came back whenever to get their things. I think about all the time I go in woods now. But crazy creepy!

Was elk hunting in the mountains in Colorado. Was on a steep hill looking out over a meadow/valley about an hour before daylight. Heard something coming slowly down the hill above me. It would get quiet and then I would hear movement and it would stop again. Happened over and over for about 45 minutes getting closer each time. Really thick behind me so I couldn't see 10 feet but I knew it was a bear. As it got light it got pretty close and I could finally see a bit of black. I took the safety off of my 300 and turned to see what it was going to do. A big black cow stepped out.

Funny how your mind can race in the dark while alone.

Many years ago a couple I know decided to live off-grid and found a little house in the woods that had not been lived in for years.

Long story short----I went up to help them clear the area around the house and a nice plot for a garden and one day I went to explore in the woods to find the stream that was said to cross the property. I found it, went for a swim in a nice area with a "swimming hole" to cool off.

Heading back to the house, at one point as it was starting to get near dark I came upon an area that had what was basically a tunnel made of twisted vines. I decided to walk through and about midway through I realized there were snakes everywhere---some in the twisted vines, others on the ground that started slithering around as I was in the tunnel.

Needless to say, I beat feet out of there as quickly as I could and never cared to take that route again.

I got up in a tree once and kept hearing this weird guttural growling sound. It was still dark and I couldn't make out exactly where it was coming from. About 20 mins later and it was light enough to see and heard it again. Look up and to my right and I just see a big ball of black and grayish fur. Turns out it was two racoons mating and we're stuck together.

I gathered all my stuff and climbed down. Last thing I wanted was a raccoon that just got laid trying to chew my face off 30 feet up in a tree.

Well that’s just not true. Of course there’s danger out there. That’s part of the appeal. Between bears, mature hogs, cats, gators, snakes, and other humans, and even coyotes, there’s plenty that can “get you”. That doesnt mean you have to live in a fearful state, but it would be naive to not respect what is out there.

Sure all of that is out there. None of them scare me or creep me out.

There are no ghosts around graveyards. There are no monsters or boogie man. No Bigfoot. No Loup Garou.

We used to cut through the cemetery at Cheniere Caminada to go wade fishing for big specks on topwater baits. One of my friends would almost panic because of ghosts.

Coyotes run away from you.

Y’all sound like “fraidy cats”. I could have some fun scaring y’all.

However, I fully believe there is non-human, bipedal creature lurking in the marshes of Venice, LA.

There is not. Y’all saw a cow. We used to see and hear them behind our blinds that were at Baptiste Collette in the ‘60’s.

Dear lord at the people scared of the dark while having a flashlight and two firearms. A whole half mile?? What did you think you were going to run into? All the zombies?

No, a pack of hogs to start with. Hogs will frick your world up. Then coyotes after that although coyotes will flee with any amount of resistance.

I live next to a pine plantation. Son goes outside at dusk to get the coyotes stirred up. Howls and they howl back. After he is done I go to the back to the porch to continue my can crushing exercise. All of a sudden three high school boys come around the back of the house freaked out. Apparently they were walking down the road and coyotes scared them. Now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure they drink my beer from the back porch.

A lifetime ago, the Ex & I are camped creek side in northern CO. Have not seen or heard anyone in three days when there is obviously someone coming up the trail. We dove into the tent, pull on some shorts & step out to see one full grown African lion come around the bend. It was only seconds, but seemed a lot longer before the lion’s owners came into view holding the other end of a chain. Just out walking there pet!

Walking over a snake is terrifying. Walked over a copperhead and a moccasin and screamed like a bitch each time.

I almost did that the other day. I fish at a place off of Bayou Deseird. I picked up my stuff was was walking parallel to the bayou and luckily was looking down and I was one step off from stepping on a snake. It was dark and had a pattern and I thought it was a moccasin at first. The first reaction is terror for about a half second until you realize ok, i see it. Once you see it, it's not going to bite me and I diagnose the situation and I wasn't scared at all but that brief half second I almost screamed and dropped all my stuff.

found an old abandoned house in Central one time. There were cat bones all over the place; in the tub, nailed to the walls. I found some mail with the delivery address "Calvin's Cats Cuttery".

The only reason I dont question by own sanity is bc I was with several friends. They remember it also

I once came across a skinny guy on top of a fat chick. Looked like he was on a waterbed.
