Had an uncle buy a pretty large chunk of land for the family to hunt. We fixed up the gate, posted it, and still had trouble with keeping the locals off it.

We had a combination lock, but had to switch to keys when we figured out the locals knew the combo. Best we can tell, they were waiting for one of us to go in and coming behind us and looking at the open combo lock for the code. One of us must have left it hanging there without scrambling it behind us.

We’d find dead deer and other signs they were on the property. So I started locking it with the chain wrapped a certain way so that I could tell if someone else was going in.

Anyways, one day I was checking cameras and was in a big field in the middle of the property surrounded by hills and bluffs. I stopped the four wheeler and was sitting there out in the open. Then I heard/felt a bullet buzz by/near me.

Needless to say, that’ll creep you out.

I actually kinda get a kick out of hearing them. Knowing they’re doing the same thing I am; idk, makes me feel like I’m in a different time. But I park my buggy right behind my stand. I walk through maybe ten feet of a wood line to get to the buggy. So I don’t know how your set up is there, I bet you have a farther walk to your rig.

I walk about a 1/4" a mile to all my stands. Every once and a while I will park right at my stand.

I was metal detecting on an old house site on my family’s land not all there far from savannah, GA. It was summer and hot. Very hot. Anyway, this place we were detecting was a pine field... the rows afforded us pretty good vision and we could see a bit. The ground was covered in pine straw and there were a bit of leaves, also. If you’ve ever spent any time in the woods walking on dry leaves, you know it’s practically impossible to walk quietly.

My family’s land has quite a bit of history dating back to the pre-Revolutionary War time and we’ve also found stuff up to the Civil War, too. This particular day my Dad and I were on separate end of the field - I couldn’t see or hear him. I was in the middle of detecting when I got the distinct feeling of being watched. I looked up and saw and heard nothing. Remember that the leaves were dry and very noisy. The air was still and nothing was stirring - no birds, nothing.

I went back to detecting and got the feeling of being watched again. I looked up and about 30 yards away I saw a figure dressed as a Confederate Soldier, complete with the grey jacket and all. But the funny thing, he was walking and made absolutely no sound, nothing. He turned his head and looked at me before disappearing into the trees. Needless to say, it really freaked me out.

I had some really severe altitude sickness and had 3rd man syndrome. Creepy as frick

Eta: I was also hypothermic and quite sure I was going to die. 3rd Guy was on the trail on a horse and had two dogs out in front of him. Can still see it plain as day, dark but lit by the moonlight

I was camping in the backcountry and on this one particular night it was a full moon. I'm in my little one man lightweight backpacking tent. As I lay there something big passes next to my tent and the shadow covers the entire tent. I'm laying there thinking that was really tall for a feral hog or a bear. Suddenly on my back where the tent wall meets the ground something has stuck it's nose against the tent and starts taking deep sniffs in and out and runs along the whole length of the tent. This thing is big with very heavy feet.

..and then it stops and I hear the feet walk off.

Hard to put a lot of rounds through the barrel of the bolt-action 270 in the scenario of running into a pack of hogs. I’d have rather had my AR.

This is why I always carry a side arm while hunting. I can discharge every round in the glock a hell of a lot faster than I could even semi accurately run through 3 rounds of the deer rifle.

To answer OP, right at one of the entrances of my lease there is an old abandoned house. It feels like someone is watching me every time I’m there at 4:30 am unlocking the gate to get in. I’m going to suggest we burn it down this summer.

If you ever go back into Wooly Swamp son you better not go at night
There's things out there in the middle of them woods
That'd make a strong man die from fright
There's things that crawl and things that fly
And things that creep around on the ground
And they say the ghost of Lucias Clay gets up and it walks around.

Heard a mountain lion at my previous house last year at night. Screamed like a woman and was traipsing through the woods.

I duck hunt quit a bit and I’ve heard some strange sounds in the dark. A beaver slapping his tail on the water near you at dawn will wake you up fast.

This! Have heard mountain lions at night, sounds like a woman screaming.

My son was 10 years old and coming face to face with a cotton mouth, he reached down to grab a stick while swimming in a creek and was seconds from death. Scared the living frick out of us

I was deer hunting on the ground next to a tree in front of a feeder, had a doe come right behind, busted me, blew and snorted 10’ from me, scared the ever living frick out of me. Needless to say my hunt was over and I went back to the camp and changed my underwear

I thought he meant that he screamed like a woman. But, yeah mountain lions sound like that or a child screaming bloody murder.
