This shitshow has proven that. However, "I don't know." is an answer that just can't be uttered these days.

Fauci said he would “settle” for a coronavirus vaccine that is 70% to 75% effective. By comparison, a measles vaccine is 97% to 98% effective. “That would be wonderful if we get there,” Fauci, the government’s top infectious disease expert, said. “I don’t think we will. I would settle for a 70, 75% effective vaccine.”

Mr. Fauci, can you send me over the vaccines for the previous 18 covid's this earth has seen so i can be sure to never get those either, just in case.

I don’t think it matters much whether or not the vaccine creates herd immunity. The vulnerable people and those around them will have the option of taking it which will protect them individually.

If you’re at-risk and don’t take it that’s your choice but you’re stupid.

the important part is in bold

Yeah bc the people with zero risk should hurry and take a rushed out vaccine to protect the older folks who are higher risk but still not that high. FTR, I am not counting nursing home folks in group above bc they are high risk to a ton of different things in addition to COVID.

I detest Fauci but he's on to something here. There's people all over FB that say they won't take a vaccine. I don't know what the hell these idiots want.

I'll take the vaccine and live my life.

You do realize there is a chance of a bad side effect to the vaccine. Especially a rushed out vaccine. Would you be willing to expose your child to a vaccine that had a 0.5% of a extremely bad side effect knowing that chance a death from the actual disease for a young person is probably less than 0.1%.

This disease is not measles where 1/100 (usually and extremely young person) dies. This is a disease that already over targets those that are extremely elderly or has other serious health conditions. The average age of death is right at the national average of age of death. Statistically it’s not really even a blip on the radar.

You don't understand how this process or the process of vaccinations work.

And if you're not eating crayons and trying to frick a soccer ball in a month, I will likely take it, too.

but I don’t want to be the first in line for a very expedited vaccine for which we may not fully understand the side effects.

Especially considering I don’t consider myself in an at risk group even if I do contract COVID

This right here. I'll let others be guinea pigs for a couple years before I jump head first into a brand new treatment that's been rushed to the masses.

I'll take my chances with Covid.

Young healthy people dont need it

The at risk population that accounts for 95% of hospitalizations needs it

That’s not how herd immunity works and it’s kind of Fauci’s point

I wonder how the tune will change once Biden's VP is in the oval office. I'm sure the narrative will be radically different concerning the economy.

If I was at risk - hypertension, diabetes, etc. - I would take it. Since I'm not, I won't.

Parks and Rec had the general public spot on.

"Where's the vaccine? Hurry up and develop a vaccine!"

"I ain't taking no rushed vaccine."

Yes, my family and I will take a vaccine with your 0.5% chance of "extremely bad side effect."

Would you not be willing to expose yourself to a vaccine to get the economy and society moving back to normalcy?

Why do I have to make that choice? How many other freedoms would you be willing to sacrifice in order to do something that should be able to do any way??
