The 2020 ESPY Awards aired Sunday. But few will be able to recap it.

Only 482,000 viewers tuned in on ESPN and ESPN2. This is the smallest ever and down substantially from the previous low of 1.98 million in 2011.

That’s down 81% from 2014, which was the last time it aired on ESPN, not ABC. Last year’s event averaged 3.9 million.

Everyone expected the ratings to drop this year. It was pre-recorded, lacked a live audience, and we haven’t had sports in months. But that doesn’t explain a drop of this magnitude. This type of epic decline follows a long pattern in ESPN’s attempt to be woker than the Twitter mentions of one of its TV personalities.

I happy to hear that. And yes, I am an espy hater and seeing it fail justifies my hate.

I watched the intro. It was exactly what I thought it would be. I like Russell Wilson, but I didn’t need to see him preach about BLM. As soon as Rapinoe appeared on screen, I checked out.

I stopped watching the ESPYs way before it was cool to stop watching the ESPYs.

Wondering if the next round of sports contracts will have Amazon making ESPN the next Blockbuster.

Can’t say I watch any awards shows really. I knew the ratings would be low but not that low.

Do you think if Clay was offered a contract from ESPN he’d take it?
(more money than what he’s making at Fox)

I usually dvr lebatard everyday and have it on in the background, but I just cx'd it. I have almost completely cut out ESPN from all viewing. They're useless now except for UFC fights.

Other than European soccer and Nascar, which most Americans don't care about, there hasn't been sports in 3 months.

Did they even present an award? I kept flipping back and forth to find some type of sports recognition but no luck
