Blacks just want the opportunity to fix their community without prejudice or police brutality.
I understand it and I talk to my AA friends about it.
What they want to stop is the racists jokes, the "pearl clutching", the looks they get by white people, and to have the same opportunities as everyone else.
The reality is they have to take responsibility for their own communities in the end. The police are only there because there's crime. This doesn't absolve the police from being shitheads or profiling.

This is fair

I struggle with this a bit. If granny sees people on MTV glorifying rape and murder, and then sees someone walking down the street who is intentionally mimicking the exact same behavior, it would only be reasonable for her to be a little reserved, no?

I struggle here, too. They may not have the same opportunities in good ol’ boy circles, but they absolutely have the same if not better opportunities in PC circles, which are only growing.

Then they should stop people like Floyd from breaking the law. He didn’t deserve to die. And I hope the cop gets jail, but let’s not act like 99.9% of these instances aren’t totally avoidable.

What do they think about people like David Dorn being beaten to death and left to bleed to death in the street? He isn't going to get the opportunity for much of anything from here on out.

When "pearl clutching" is a higher priority than your people murdering each other... you might need to reevaluate your priorities.

You cannot be serious.
This whole week of events is creating the freshest batch of pearl clutchers you’ve ever seen.
You are either lying or stupid.

What's stopping them from fixing their own community?

Can you ask those friends why they value the life of someone they've never met that was killed by a white cop more than any of the other thousands of black individuals that were killed in the last year by other minorities?

What are 95% of black comedians going to do for jobs when they can no longer joke about race?

That is crazy....they have the deck so skewed towards them right now it is crazy. They have access to scholarships galore. They have access to loans I could only wish for. They get preferential hiring and promotions. They have opportunities as everyone else if they just go to school and keep their noses clean.

They've got that, in spades, they routinely burn their communities to the ground.

There have been experiments done that show blacks give the same prejudice to other blacks as whites do. in terms of reaction and safety.
Most likely a result of Hollywood dramatization, culture, and crime statistics.

You mean like the racist jokes uttered non-stop by EVERY black comedian that is beloved by the Black Community?

There is no epidemic of Police brutality against Black people.
Black people, just like every other "people", are their own worst enemies.
Their constant refusal to self-examine show they lack the will or ability to solve the REAL problems they face.

quote:I have an idea. Let's start with folks in those communities following each and every law on the books. What if police actions in these communities are the results of classic conditioning? What if the police actions are a result of people breaking the law and resist any police activity because "it's because I am black"? Get a job, quit selling crack on the street corner, be mutually respectful of one another and I bet things would be different in a month.
