There will definitely be a different approach. I don't think we'll get the president prophylactically taking HCQ or riffing on internal use of disinfectant.

Posts like that are why people don’t take you seriously.

quote:Exactly. The US curve will always be different because of the transmission time across such a wide area. People have no sense of scale. They they all "countries" are the same. In realty, most coutnties are about the size of a single US state.
You’re comparing tiny countries geographically. When you go to regional graphs, they are either flat or they look like those.

I also believe you could take 30-40% off that total for the way we lump all the covid positive deaths.
Our issue was not protecting the most vulnerable. We did not take care of the nursing homes.
Take 30% of total number and another 40% off that for nursing homes and your looking at less than 38k deaths. Number "sounds" high but you are talking a 4 month span. Nearly 7500 people die a day in America. If you take a month of 30 days times 4 months. There are 90K deaths in general in 4 months.
NO REASON to shut us down anymore. BASED on science and data as they like to say

What countries didn’t fail in the initial containment?
South Korea

That’s one. I’d add Japan. And probably Germany.
So there’s three out of many, many countries.
I wonder if that tells us anything.

It’s amazing people are pushing for isolation when our isolated population has been the hardest hit.

Buddy of mine's grandma "died of COVID. She was 100 and in a nursing home. An infected hangnail woulda killed her.

South Korea, Japan, and Germany are the only nations that have done meaningfully better the us, imo. Also Taiwan
We are doing better than Western Europe as a whole

A third according to the numbers on worldometer. Wtf kinda bull shite is this in the most abundant healthcare system in the world? This whole damn thing is garbage.
America is 9th in the per capita listing and China is lying a lot.

That we're not exceptional like we thought we were.

Ehhh, you could use a lot of different data on various issues to show we are not “exceptional” compared to certain nations.
My big issue is that people complained 24/7 about testing in March and April, and then are silent when we massively expand our testing capacity. Up 30% week over week over last 1.5 months.
I am not even talking about “crediting” trump. I am talking about crediting the people working their asses off in labs and factories.
Two things can be true
1) we were slow to ramp up testing
2) we have done very well since then in increasing testing.
It’s not either/or
Similar to death rate
Our death rate is lower than Europe and Canada.
The data just doesn’t indicate that America was some massive failure compared to rest of world in dealing with this.

the US has been considered the gold standard when it came to public health
Treating the sick, saving lives, and developing medical innovations are EXTREMELY different from a hastily thrown together pandemic plan fueled by lies, incomplete information, and shite models. Our healthcare system has been absolutely brilliant in all this. The problems lie elsewhere.
If you want a scapegoat, go have a look at the CCP and WHO, or possibly take a gander at NY leadership and their nursing homes, Petri dish subways, and corona race baiting. After all, the NY tri state area accounts for a goddam third of cases and deaths.

China, India and Africa numbers are not accurate.

Yep. China mysteriously lost 2 million active cell phone users.

This is why you have to take these numbers with a grain of salt. No way you are 7 times more likely to die of Covid-19 in the US than the rest of the world.
