Police invite teen to apply for the force after proving he's enough of an idiot

quote:

José Nuñez Romaniz, 19, found the clear bag full of cash on Sunday near a Wells Fargo ATM in Albuquerque, according to KRQE-TV. He immediately called the 1-800 number on the ATM, as well as the police.

It turns out, the money was left behind by a Wells Fargo subcontractor, whose job is to fill the ATM. The worker had mistakenly left the cash there by accident.

quote:

Romaniz was also presented with a $500 check from New Mexico electricity provider PNM, a gift card from a local restaurant, season tickets to the University of New Mexico Lobos football games and a signed football by former Chicago Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher from ESPN radio.

“I did the right thing and I know my parents are proud and my family is proud as well,” he added.

What a moron. We're about to be in the hugest economic downturn since the great depression and possibly worse than that and you don't keep this?

Not exactly. The economy was the best in decades before we shut the world down for .10% of the population.

Can’t really say what should have happened, but this kid has more character and integrity in his ear lobe than every politician combined.

It also goes w/o saying that if the money was that close to the ATM, he would have been seen on camera picking it up.

Great. Report it to the IRS. Not the police

I’m curious what the legalities are if he didn’t turn the cash in but they found him. Is he under any Legal obligation to return it?

Why should he be?

It's their mistake
