You sound like the four local women here who figured out that a ATM machine was out of order. They each pulled out between 2 and $4,000, all of which was money that was not in their account. I watch all four plead guilty to felonies.

I feel good about it since the money did end up with it’s legitimate owners, had it been just random drug money the cops would have split it up, and headed for a strip club.

Maybe that is exactly what the Wells Fargo sub was trying to do, but this kid thwarted his plan.

Wells Fargo missed out not either giving him more or paying for his education if he goes to college.

Well at least he didn't mistakenly leave it there on purpose.

Yeah, frick that kid for living by a strong moral foundation.

The more people like him and the less people like you, the better this world would be.

Morality is subjective. “Finders keepers” is my general rule. Losing cash is both foolish and careless. Returning lost cash to its previous possessor enables their foolish and careless behavior. That being said, if returning it helps you sleep at night, by all means, do so.

He should have definitely kept the cash. Wells Fargo is abhorrent.

he would have been seen on camera picking it up.

Technically, the crime is known as 'theft by finding'. This means that if you find a wad of cash on the street and don't try to return it to its owner – by handing it into the shop, for example, or the police – you're guilty of theft.

quote:

A few people have found incredible sums of money in unlikely places. ... Every state has laws requiring the return of money or property if it is possible to identify the owner. As a result, if you find a wallet full of cash and an ID, you cannot legally pocket the cash because the owner is recognizable.

So.... kid could have had charges pressed if on video!
