Also we could release live animals in the field and pay for admission to watch the carnage

Great idea in turning an apex predator animal more aggressive. I’m sure his keepers would love that.

It was a really innocuous, general, albeit simplified, statement that he's opposed to animals in cages.
This. Joe is 100% MAGA. He loved meeting President Trump and going to the White House.

Agree, specially since I get hints of his liberalism.

Joe Burrow becoming an outspoken, hardcore lib would make for some highly entertaining threads on this here website.

So I hope it happens.

I see Joe's point but Tigers live longer in capivity when they don't have to chase their food down and eat it...

It’s not like we stole it from a jungle. Mike was born in captivity and would have ended up in a zoo or private cage.

Instead he’s adored by millions and fed better than most humans.

I truly believe the PETA folks think this happens. LSU goes out and steals a baby wild tiger and raises them in captivity.

It would be funny to see the mental gymnastics some would go through to rationalize his actions (some of that has already happened in this thread) and it would be funny to see some go to the extreme and refuse to claim him as a Tiger (like some have done with Eric Reid, and did with Tyrann Mathieu until he rehabbed his image in the NFL).

would Joe prefer that Mike be released into the wild? He wouldn’t survive. The other alternative is euthanasia.

I’d guess that Mike is among the best cared-for animals on the planet.

Care to change your mind, Joe?

Mike eats and is cared for better than me. He hit the tiger lottery!

It's not like we go to Asia and snatch a tiger out of the wild and throw him in Mike's enclosure. These are tigers from rescue facilities and defunct zoos that wouldn't survive in the wild to begin with. Their living conditions probably increase 10x being selected by LSU.

So many extremes on here (from “set him free” to “euthanize him” to ”his living quarters are perfect and are the biggest of all tigers ever”)...and many of them imagined positions of someone on “the other side.” Y’all get into your political corners (and lash out at some enemy in an opposite corner). You’re so busy defending your tribe that you can’t find a way out—even in thinking about Mike’s cage.

Why not expand what counts as his enclosure in some non-traditional ways? For instance, the Philadelphia Zoo (America’s oldest) is hemmed in by I-76 and railroad tracks. So they built elevated walkways for tigers, primates, etc to move around the zoo and even switch enclosures: Treetop Trail. It provides interest. So, just loop Mike around the PMAC; swing it by that cool beach volleyball court; and build a second, connected enclosure where an imploded natatorium used to be.

Everyone needs to relax. It’s not like Joe is protesting LSU having a tiger on campus.

I'll always love Joe Burrow, but politically he comes across as an SJW. Hates Trump. His mother is a college professor, so he probably never had a chance.

Stick to football, Joe. You don't seem to know too much about anything else.

Joe Burrow is right. I believe At some point we need to release mike the tiger into the wild. Its expensive and unnecessary to keep this tiger. I guess joe is a big lib. I bet people are going to crucify the legend Joe burrow!

Uhhh, no. That cat wants to hunt and run and mate, not lay in a cage all day. I’m fine with the current situation, but your point is likely wrong. A tiger lives by one ethic: that might makes right. If he was free he would kill and kill and kill, often just for the sake of killing. He would kill and not even eat the prey. We’ve all seen house cats torment a mouse or a lizard; it’s wanton cruelty. It’s not like we have Gandhi in a cage.

That cat wouldnt last in the wild.

And tigers are solitary animals.
