What was his solution? He usually backs up his talk, so hopefully he did this time as well.

Is there a true big cat rescue park/preserve with room to spare to take all tigers in that weren't born in the wild including the majority that are in worse conditions and have less access to veterinarians than Mike?

It's not like we go steal these tigers out of the jungles of India or that they can be released back there.

If anyone wants to start somewhere start to improve the ones who have it worse first. Actually do something. Don't just talk about it. If the people that bitch about Mike actually put their money where their mouth is eventually there would be zero tigers born outside of the jungles and other natural habitat available to become Mike. We aren't motivating people to breed tigers outside of their natural habitats. Until that stops or at least until we no longer have a better place and better care to offer than next place below us with a tiger available it would be cruel to not take that tiger and improve its situation.

Uh, no Mike was raised in captivity, he would die in the wild within days. I can cite countless examples where state DNR’s have tried to repopulate wild animals through captive breeding programs that failed. The first two that comes to mind. The wild turkey and wild quail.

And I sincerely believe that Joe was too busy Mastering in football-arse-kicking to be bothered learning this. Or to understand that Mike was a rescue.

Someone should truly help an intelligent person like Burrow understand that Mike is a rescue. He is not a Tiger LSU just gets.

quote:

3.7 million and 15,000 square feet.... They could probably expand a bit to give him a cool 20k square feet as well.

However, this always boils down to Mike has always lived in captivity he would not survive in the wild, tigers in captivity actually live longer, Mike has the best vet staff, premium nutrition, and receives the best care from his handlers.

Exactly.

Mike lives a pretty nice life all things considered.

Agree. Until then he can STFU and concentrate on the one thing he’s qualified to do.

Why is he unqualified to have an opinion but you aren’t

Good point.

The sentiment is more one of “Joe, you are entitled to your opinion, but you came to town for a year and a half, took online classes and played football. You sound like an idiot, so you should put on your Dixie Chicks albums and mind your own business”

Just curious: obviously Joe knew LSU had a live tiger as a mascot before he played at LSU yet he came to LSU anyway, and benefited GREATLY! Now that the gig is up and you have millions you want to make a comment about this!! I love all you accomplished for LSU but hypocrisy is not a good look bro!

Everybody is missing the obvious fix.

Joe and some of the other LSU players in the league pitch in and get Mike a custom made Tiger version of a Japanese sex doll.

Not liking animals caged doesn't make someone a liberal. It certainly doesn't make me one.

I don't care about a person's politics unless they are a politician or an asshat about it..which is usually the left.

That tiger lives better than probably 99% of the cats on this earth along with probably 80% of the humans too.

Well, he'll have the money to build whatever kind of enclosure he thinks is suitable for Mike. If it bothers him that much, he can cut a fricking check.

This with regards to Burrow.

Agreed. Mike needs more room, but taking a live Tiger away from LSU would ultimately kill part of its culture.

Only on Tigerdroppings would you find people arguing that 15,000 square feet is a suitable living situation for a Tiger.

Kevin Richardson has a 3,000 acre sanctuary in South Africa for big cats that cannot live in the wild. LSU have simply taken the tigers from one enclosure that exploits them for profit, and put them in their own enclosure to exploit the cat.

I think Mike’s living situation is better than most zoos. They also do a ton of research and aid to Tiger endangerment across the world.

I mean don't we all agree his living situation would be better if he were free. He has it great for a rescue. If you can't be free, the life of Mike is darn good. But, his situation is like living in a VERY nice jail, he is still behind bars and can't roam free.

How about prior to agreeing to play for LSU? If he is so concerned then why play at LSU? Then why say anything after the fact?

Because it was his best opportunity to win a national championship and set himself up for a professional career.

Sounds like a good decision on his part.

It's not like Joe's blood was burning purple and gold when he chose LSU. It was a move that suited his own best interest and LSU benefited from it, and that's OK.
