on the state's 340 Covid deaths as of 5/6. Only 18 out of the 340 had no underlying medical conditions. 55% of the 340 are described as having "multiple" underlying medical conditions. Age range of the deaths is 50 to 92, with a median age of 74. I was actually surprised to see that there are no deaths under 50. 55.6% of the dead were white, 33.3% were black.

It is not broken out by nursing home vs. non-nursing home, but I am guessing from those stats that a lot of Alabama's deaths are nursing home residents. I am also guessing that Alabama is not an outlier on these mortality characteristics.

Yet here I sit as a healthy 35 year old white guy looking up innovative ideas to entertain my stir crazy children for another day.

Yeah, we were supposed to have over 5,500 dead by the end of April. That is how Ivey got bullied into the stay at home order. Then it was revised down to 900+, then 600+. But we should believe the models.

The way we've handled this nonsense will be a black stain on our entire history as a nation. Media driven hysteria led by mostly liberal politicians and their ilk have brought this country to its knees.

ETA: And Governor barner Meemaw is a sheep and a coward for giving in.

Open up the bars in college towns. Let us have fun this summer for goodness sake. I don't want my last summer in school to be dead

This is impossible! I was told this virus is racist and loves killing minorities at a much higher rate. Are you trying to say other things may play a factor? Freaking liar!

I was a little surprised at that one too. It never gets reported in the Alabama media even though it is right there on the DPH website.

It's not. South Carolina is very similar.

From that same flexible yardstick that number has now been revised upwards

All of the people under 75 with no major comorbidities died early on.

They have figured out treatments that will save people under 75 unless they have extreme obesity, extreme high blood pressure, uncontrolled diabetes, or extreme asthma. 400 pounders usually have all 4 conditions.

I’ve heard that 100+ of those deaths were nursing home related.

Hush! This doesn't fit the narrative.
