Bragging about not wearing a mask is the newest, coolest flex on TD. It's a weird flex, but there are threads of people bragging about not wearing a mask and mocking those that do.

Seriously people- STOP BUYING MASKS!
They are NOT effective in preventing general public from catching #Coronavirus, but if healthcare providers can’t get them to care for sick patients, it puts them and our communities at risk!

How would you wash your hands between eating with a fork at your table and going to the bathroom? Surely you wouldn’t touch your mask with your fork-soiled hands?
What did you do in public before this virus was discovered? I guess we’ll all just walk around taking masks on and off as needed until all communicable viruses are eradicated.

Last Saturday I went to Sams and Target on 21 in Covington. Sam's was maybe 25% mask and Target was 90%.

The "they are protecting others" mantra is propaganda. If you think about it, the whole "mask up" thing is 100% political saving face.
What if they open everything up, no masks, no social distancing, etc., and there is no spike, we don't all die? Then it is 100% obvious we didn't need to shut down in the first place. If they "open safely" and require, or strongly suggest (i.e. activate the Karens), masks, etc., and the numbers don't spike, then it's because we are all donning masks and doing things safely. Nevermind that anyone that knows statistics can easily compute the likelihood of anyone at the store in a 2 hour window of me being asymptomatic, myself included, and can easily see that the true risk factor is minimal, at best, whether we're wearing masks or not.
I've been working at the office 40 hours a week continuously. I hug my adult kids when they come visit. Last week, I hugged someone I hadn't seen for 5 or so years. I go to the stores as often as ever (typically every other day). I've been to the doctors office as recently as a week and a half ago, no masks required. They did my temp at the door, for show obviously, but didn't care once I was inside.
I'm a non-masker. If it becomes mandatory, I'll claim medical reason not to (I am slightly claustrophobic and it is difficult to breath wearing one). If that is not an option, for example I may be flying soon for business (and I'll gladly hop on a plane without any fear ... other than potentially crashing), I'll make one out of thin netting, or maybe order one I saw made from beads (ala belly dancer style). It would be equally effective as a bandana, and much easier to breath in.
As someone with permanent hearing loss, I would much rather if workers didn't have them as I can't always figure out what they are trying to say.
I don't fault anyone playing along and wearing one. Perhaps in addition to senior shopping hours, stores should implement separate germaphobe hours, and non-germaphobe hours so that we can all be happy and get along.

If they handle the fork with plastic gloves after taking it out of the wash, then my chances of getting it from that are basically 0.

We'll get back to normal once there's: A) Herd Immunity or B) a Vaccine.
I think there's a good chance I've already gotten it since I was in California for basically all of February until the last week. The day that Nancy Pelosi said come to Chinatown, I actually was in Chinatown (didn't go to that event). The last week my parents came to stay with me in Denver, and then the next week my mom got a bad case of "bronchitis". I pray to God that I got it and was asymptomatic as was my dad and that was Covid she got. She's got major lung issues, so that would come as a relief if that "bronchitis" was actually coronavirus.

What about other viruses that are spread the exact same way? Are you going to wear a mask (which you take on and off constantly to eat and drink) when you dine out during flu season once there is a Covid vaccine? What about to tailgate? If not, then why?

Then why are one of the ones getting your panties in a bunch if people don't want to wear masks?
You do understand what herd immunity requires right?

Other common viruses aren't as big of a threat to the elderly and those with compromised immune systems. You don't seem to be getting it isn't about me being afraid of getting the virus, it's spreading it to people that can't handle the virus. I personally am way more likely to die in a car accident this year than coronavirus.

The young and healthy need to get it first and slowly though. I get what flattening the curve means unlike the media.

No I understand it perfectly. Elderly people are disproportionately affected with the common flu and nearly every single other type of infection. Every single year some nursing homes are slammed by the flu, norovirus, etc. Why wouldn't this also apply to those other diseases?
If we are going to do things to protect vulnerable populations, why draw an arbitrary distinction around this virus, when other diseases exist that are just as easily spread in nursing homes, and just as deadly there?

I'm not sure why a tweet from over two months ago is relevant right now. Just b/c someone said something that is wrong, doesn't mean it shouldn't be revised. I think we all knew then that Surgeon General & CDC were full of shite and they were saying this b/c they knew there was a supply problem.
Fast forward to the present day... if it reduces spread and allows things to open up and more importantly, gives shoppers the confidence to go out and buy things, then let people wear a mask without being mocked. Otherwise, you will have a large number of people, whether you like it or not, sitting at home afraid to leave.

Haven’t worn a mask yet and have no intention to. If I get sick I will gladly wear a mask. If required to I will do everything I can to avoid the places that require it.

I'm not afraid of dying from this coronavirus and I'm certainly not someone staying at home 24/7. I can't help but laugh at someone afraid of a plane crashing but bragging about not caring about a pandemic.

It doesn't bother me that people choose to wear them. I have more faith in disposable gloves and hand washing more than anything.

LOL - that was a little tongue in cheek on my part. I'm not actually afraid of flying, but do think that my risk of dying in a plane crash is higher than dying because of the latest/greatest coronavirus. Although if the plane crashed because the mechanics were short staffed because of the virus, would my death then be corona-related?

But if everyone is truly worried about the economy, people need to be out and about spending money, right? That doesn't happen when people are holed up in their homes. It doesn't mean shite if things are open, but no one is patronizing the businesses.
