Did the Saints just give Taysom Hill a 1 yr extension over over 15 million dollars to his aleaady 4.6 tender? LOL. And you guys don’t think they’re serious about Taysom the Heir. LOL

I’m not understanding the concern in this thread. He’s an incredibly valuable player for us even if he’s not playing quarterback

He touched the ball 2.8 times per game last year lol

The number started at 4.6 due to his tender, he got 16 guaranteed at signing.

If the saints wanted to cut him in 2021, it would be nothing cap hit wise

He was the only one worth a damn against Minny. Good things happened when he was on the field but he wasn’t on the field enough.

My concern is him staying healthy if/when you need him at QB. Dude LOVES contact. But with Winston in the fold I expect Hill will have the same role he’s had the last two years.

Not a big fan of that deal

Glad it’s only 2 years

Exactly. Saints caved because Taysom wasn’t signing his offer sheet. I hope they give Jameis another year on his deal. Make Taysom earn that shite next year

I seriously doubt that. What was Taysom going to do, hold out? This is simply taking care of him for 1 season. Maybe you don’t like it but this isn’t a vote of confidence going forward.

With apparently some reachable incentives to make it more

People who think a 2 year 20 million dollar deal is a sign he is the heir apparent are delusional. That’s literally what his deal is.

I wouldn't doubt it's a vote of confidence after the Steven's pick and the Winston signing, showing they still want him here and hope he'll still be content in his hybrid role, which I wouldn't mind seeing expanded, as long as he's not taking too many snaps away from Brees.

Hill is a backup QB that adds additional value to the team. Most backup QBs are just insurance or development projects. They also take up roster spots. I think it makes sense for Payton if he says he adds the value of other players, but also serves as insurance as a backup QB.

He’s going to touch it more going forward I reckon

This deal isn’t bad

Is that being reported?

I mean, restricted free agency determined his market value. Not sure why the saints feel the need to cave to this. They’ve been awfully careless the last few days

400 yards of offense and 7 tds in a bit role.

75 yards and a td in our playoff game.

7 receiving tds on the year, 8 total.

Ability to play QB. Viewed as a potential Brees successor.

League increasingly using RPO offense that Hill is good at running.

Can play RB, TE, FB, WR, QB, and is one of our best special teams players.

Saints pay him 8 milly a year and Lester Earl is confused. Makes sense.

That’s Tight End type money. Can’t find anything wrong with those numbers.

Maybe, but you can’t pay him for that now.

Even still, he’s going to be 6th on the team in touches.

Just doesn’t seem like a good business deal. What am I missing?

It’s a vote of confidence in that regard yes. I meant it’s not guaranteeing the starting job post 2020
