We were obviously going to match a tender that low for Hill. it was pointless for a team to do it. Dont be a troll.

If someone thought he was worth $8-10 mil a year?

Lmao

Well there’s an easy reasoning for that. Nobody was gonna give up a first rounder then pay him that.

Ehh idk about that.

In an interview with WWL Radio, Saints coach Sean Payton said Hill will go into the 2020 season as the team's backup quarterback. "He's earned that opportunity," Payton said,

Obviously that was before signing Jameis, but you have to consider the lack of OTAs, minicamps, offseason workouts until TC.
Unless Jameis can get a hold of it all pretty quickly under these circumstances, I gotta feel like Hill is the #2 heading into the season.

Huh? That would be top 5-7 TE money in the NFL.

He’s responsible for like 500 yards and 8 TDs and is position fluid.

I’d say upper tier TE money is the fairest comparison.

He shouldn’t get top QB money ($20+ million) obviously, top WR money ($15+ million) or top RB money ($10+ million). He’s not on the field as much or as productive as any of those positions. But he’s an important cog of our offense and we need to keep him here and happy.

$16 mil guaranteed for Hill

If you look at WR, that’s Jamison Crowder, Albert Wilson, Cole Beasley territory as far as guaranteed
money

Figure he gets ~100 combined rush attempts/targets over a full season at QB, RB, WR, TE going forward. ST snaps. He’s touching the ball more than the above guys

$5mil + a 1st for a starting nfl QBs is pennies

No one offered. The market was set & you had him locked in. Giving him more money is asinine

They wanted him for an extra year so that they can see what they have when DB is gone and not have to pay him even more. They had to pay a price to get him locked in for that extra year.

He was attached to a 1st but even just a original offer would have started at backup offensive lineman money or something close
So it was likely nothing to do with money and other teams didn't want to lose a 1st to get him then, right?

Bunch what can happen in a year that is going to increase his value lol

He’s a cool weapon but

Kamara
MT
Sanders
Cook
Murray

Will all out touch him if healthy

That’s a lot of money for the 6th man of your offense WHO YOU HAD LOCKED IN AT 1/4th THE PRICE

Being an Unrestricted Free Agent.

He would not have signed for an extra year with us without us paying a little above. We wanted that extra year to see what we have.

possibly.

part of wants to give him the benefit of the doubt that his injuries fricked him up but the other part of me wants to ignore all that and let him ride the pine.

but ride the pine he won't he just got paid so he needs to toughen up or something.
