Why all the hate for oil field baws?

I understand the disdain for Pitbulls, school teachers, Democrats, travel ball baseball, etc.
But why do so many posters on here take shots at the good people of the Oil & Gas industry? There are a few jackasses but most of them are ordinary people who actually want to work but are just victims of unfortunate circumstances

There are a lot posters that have nothing more in life than to try and disparage some group on this site. It’s pretty sad. Just see the disdain for the list you gave.

Anyone working in a volatile industry like oil&gas needs to expect down turns like this. Any stock market speculators or commodity traders are in the same economic boat. Save money in the good times and hope you can ride out the bad times.

I can see your point I guess. Truancy, becoming a teen father and a few drug possession charges can make a guy turn to the Patch when life deals a bad card.

Because people get jealous of folks. I have a lot of friends in oil, all good guys and hard working. Not my kind of work or life style, but they do it well. Times are tough and I feel for them. Never felt jealous of them in good or bad times.

I am a teacher. Never understood the disdain of us. Some are bad, like any occupation, but that is what it is. Some perks are great some are not. I think there is balance in the life and that many folks dont understand the negatives and just constantly focus on Summers off and other aspects.

I've never said anything negative about them - but their love of high gas prices and shouting down those celebrating low gas prices is tiresome and comes across as very selfish.
