President Donald Trump’s forthcoming guidelines on “Opening Up America Again” put a focus on state governors and have the blessing of the coronavirus task force’s top medical experts.
White House officials told Daily Caller that Dr. Deborah Birx, Dr. Anthony Fauci, and Dr. Robert Redfield are all in a consensus that the plan, which heavily takes into account regional public health concerns, is the proper path to move forward for the country.
The guidance is primarily focused on revitalizing the economy, and addresses multiple different industries that have struggled under social distancing, including restaurants and bars. Large public gatherings will eventually be approved in a phased and layered way.
The officials explained that the guidance is extremely granular, and will be issued all the way down to the county level. The White House acknowledged that some governors have already extended their current shelter in place orders, but added that others could be ready to open their states ahead of Trump’s previous target date of May 1.

NEWS: Trump's guidelines to reopen the economy will put onus on governors to decide when to let people back to work, etc. “You’re going to call your own shots,” Mr. Trump told governors today.

Fauci and Birx having a heavy role is NOT good news - these were the same two who told Trump to shut down the whole country earlier this year as per Fauci's admission.
Prepare to be disappointed ... and be pleasantly surprised if I'm wrong.

The bar Fauci and Birx set was a flattened curve and hospitals not being overwhelmed.
Two points:
1. The curve is flattening.
2. Hospitals not overwhelmed.
Trump will crush them if they try to move the goalpost.

It probably means that the plan is based on a county by county analysis of each state. Some (most) counties will be able to reopen while hotspots remain closed.
If a new hotspot emerges, then it will undergo a focused shutdown without shutting the whole state down.

I would think that upstate New York could open up prior to NYC.

Watch how fast “science and data” now become irrelevant in Dem quarters.

Nothing. It's a nothing, stupid word. It's all for "optics."
Downvote all you want but the litany of posts below this guessing as to what she means proves my point. 10-cent word that makes her feel in charge and sophisticated. Yawn.

Allowing the government to micromanage our lives over a virus that kills 1-3% or less. What happened to the land of the free and home of the brave?
We are micromanaged cowards and should be ashamed of ourselves.

So what this does is build a wave of states that will domino to the point that the shelter in place orders will be forced to be tweaked from statewide to county by county.
It is real hard for one state to hold firm on its shutdown when others around them open. Public pressure will force this to become a more granular approach, which it should have been from the beginning.

I’m assuming it means that decisions can be made looking at very specific data. I’ll give a for instance.
A county with a population of 200,000 with 100 new cases in the last week where 60 of them are in nursing homes and prisons is in a much different position than a county with a population of 5,000 with 100 new cases where none of them are in a confined setting.

I suspect the guidance will include a max number of people per square foot initially for restaurants. A good starting number would b 30 people per 1000 square foot. Those are good round numbers for about a 6 foot by 6 foot area for each person. Do that for 4 weeks and open up areas fully if they do well during that period.

Of course it's going to be difficult and some people won't listen. That has to be factored in the guidance. But most people will follow the guidance voluntarily.

There will be. Local and state governments.
