Best advice to OP:

Get another job. Seriously. I work in HR and have seen this many times. If this is a small company, nepotism will always win.

Documentation documentation documentation

E-mail HR, and BCC to your personal email and print out a copy of the email. Because if stuff gets legal, emails are known to “vanish”.

The words “hostile work environment” will get HR’s attention real quick.

I worked for a small business once- 100 employee type place years ago that had a bully. Dude was a huge blockhead marine vet about 30 in the service department. I made double his income in the sales department and he hated the sales guys. He’d mutter shite when you were in the room under his breath and say shite about you as soon as you left the room.

So this one time I was around the corner I heard him saying shite about me and I can’t explain it but I just saw red, lost all control and went to his work bench and challenged him right there to a fight. I just absolutely blitzed him. Called him every name in the book and told him let’s go right now . He totally backed down.

My old school New York Italian company owner called me in the office the next day and told me “ that a-hole deserved it. You have a huge set of balls. I respect what you did. The guy is a bully. You do something like that and you are the office hero. But-You do it TWICE and you are fired. Got it ?” He was 100% correct of course.

Fast forward two years, on the day I left the office for good, he was the Bro that helped me carry my shite out and gave me a bro hug.

Yep, so true! This is a no-win situation faced against a relative/nepotism issue. I have even seen this in a corporation with a manager/supervisor who became related through a close marriage. People quit, complained to upper management, but company did nothing! I think the corporation was even more scared to do anything because the manager/supervisor were minorities and didn't want the race card being pulled out. Meanwhile, the woman supervisor was a tyrant, mistreated everyone, even had women employees crying. But as EZE said, get out, because it will only get worse with a relative feeling 'entitled' at a company...
