Nola

quote:

She had a slight fever. Crescent Care, her employer, had only a handful of tests for the new strain of coronavirus on hand; she initially passed on the chance to take one, after being told she was low-risk for the serious disease.

When her symptoms didn't shake, she did take the test on Monday. By Thursday, she felt "something in her lungs," she told longtime partner Josh Anderson. But she still felt well enough by then to join Anderson as the pair walked her dog.

On Friday, Anderson found Ott dead in her kitchen.

Her test results have still not come back.

This is a sad story, but what, exactly, would testing have done? She wasn't critical and, even with a confirmed positive, would have been told to recuperate at home.

Also I will say that I am doubtful this was directly COVID-19 related. It just doesn't seem to fit the timeline. People with minor symptoms aren't dropping dead. They have severe respiratory issues and die 14-21 days later.

*ETA: first test came back negative

She likely had an underlying medical condition that isn't being reported or even she didn't know about.

yeah this screams undiagnosed health issue

which is scary, but also shouldn't go in the "YOUNG PEOPLE ARE DYING TOO" category of fear mongering

Man I am in the camp of this is serious but they dont have the results of her test? Or anything on what actually killed her, just that she was found dead.

This is kind of irresponsible journalism.

Articles like this with huge holes in them being passed around only fuels fire to the skeptics imo.

Testing wouldn't have helped on that case.

How do they know what she died of if an autopsy wasn’t completed? Could have been an aneurysm, unknown heart condition, even an overdose.

This whole thing has brought out the absolute worst in the media and journalists.

It is such a dying industry that people are relying on sensationalism for clicks and don't give a frick about the impact of their language/words.

I love that people are posting this anecdotal evidence as some proof. As if people have said that it is impossible for young healthy people to die from this...
We know that young healthy people will die, but what is the mortality rate for that group. If we continue to sensationalize every death, or every case of a celebrity we will never end this

it's not but

1. they pretty much all have a major complicating issue. that information wasn't discussed in the article

2. the timeline doesn't work with what data we have

3. the article is titled in terms of testing, when there is no reason why faster or more testing would have done anything

From th boyfriends FB...

quote:

On Wednesday March 18th she wrote: "I walked Zola and am worn out." She also wrote: "I just want to drink whiskey" and sent me an article about a 25-year old man that claimed whiskey cured his Coronavirus.

quote:

n Sunday March 15th she wrote: "Hey, I'm not feeling so hot still. I may be testing at work tomorrow. I'm probably fine. I just tried to drink some medicinal whiskey and feel unwell.

quote:

She sent her last message to me at 8:36am in response: "A little better and hopeful. The herbs seems to be helping."

Herbs and whiskey as medicine...

people aren't dying in 48 hours from this virus. this isn't ebola or nipah. they're dying after weeks in ICU

I’m so glad we now get to hear about everybody under the age of 40 that dies. It’s just a great conversation piece for a lovely Saturday afternoon. Please keep them coming.

And isn’t high fever a hallmark symptom of people who have it really bad?
