Only 2% will die, but 20% will lose their jobs.

I’m just doing what I normally do.

Sitting in the dark with my shotgun waiting for the end to come.

Maybe people with more body weight/body fat are more affected? Although I do know some fat Koreans in the US, I automatically assumed that the ones still in Korea are thin.

I think we should open everything back up and just let nature take its course.

I feel like the messages coming out are getting more and more confusing. Some of them are just downright contradictory. On the one hand this is a virus that is so dangerous it necessitates and justifies putting tens of millions into economic suffering. Job losses, small businesses shutting (the idea all of these places will be able to reopen is ridiculous, we're going to lose many of them permanently), retirement accounts losing half their value in a week, etc.

Yet, the virus according to the same doctors telling us to quarantine and shut down for weeks only has a 2% fatality rate (as of this post that was the last I'd seen for the US), many of the cases are confined to certain areas. There was even a doctor on TV last night who said that unless you're elderly or have a compromised immune system you don't even need to go to the hospital, he literally said stay home, hydrate and take over the counters...so which is it?

You're describing what for 90 percent of the population is a bad cold/fever that takes you out of work for 2-3 days yet we're tanking the economy? There's already hundreds of thousands of unemployment applications and hundreds of thousands more to come.

They (the powers that be) are telling us contradicting stories about this thing and then are saying to just trust them as they implement more and more harsh containment measures. Meanwhile the fatality rate stays at one lower than the flu.

Confusion is a natural reaction to this I think. You're not alone OP.

This is the end of the western world and communism ended up winning after all. China owns everything, they are in every country, everything is made there, everyone owes them a shite ton of money. This is China and Russia’s grand scheme all along to take over the world and to bring back communism

on't think we can take more than two additional weeks of the shutdowns we have now before the economy takes on irreparable damage and people lose their minds. But, it also sounds like we probably need at least 3 and more like 6+ months of social distancing efforts to really fight the spread, otherwise we will just see spikes down the line. So, who knows

That’s my stance as well. I can’t fathom how some people still don’t get it and think it’s nothing. Very small-minded.

The reason is because of the long incubation period and how contagious it is. So you could have countless people coming down with it simultaneously in a given area in a short time. And it’s not about who lives or dies - many who survive will still require weeks of being intubated in the hospital. Finally, when the hospitals become overcrowded, people die.

That’s the reason.
