Because I'm not sure if when I take a shite if it's on the company dime or my own.

I am not disciplined enough to do this for a long time. I need actual social interaction and get stir crazy being cooped up in the house.

too many distractions, for instance:

porn and a quiet place to jack off readily available at all times.

if you know it's going to rain this afternoon and you need to cut the grass, you go cut the grass instead of working.

If you have kids that are under the age of about 7, it's impossible to get anything done.

if your wife works in an office, and you work from home, she assumes you don't actually work and can do things like watch the kids when they don't have school, or bring them to doctor appointments, or go to the store, etc.

on a normal day like tomorrow, you'll have march madness on in the background, which will become forefront for most of the day and not background, and you won't get anything done. same goes for the masters and other events that may happen during the workday.

all that being said, it's not that hard to get your work done from home. it's not like people go to their office and work a full 8 hour day with no distractions.

I thought all O-T ballers had a separate wing in their houses with an office and a man cave.

How many lunches would you say you have in a given work day?

One a day of course. Although I have been known to grab a couple of bags of Jacks biscuits or burgers (depending on time of day) and drop them by a good customer’s office or shop.

If it were more productive, you'd have already been doing it.

It's a compromise.

I have my own study (really an extra bedroom). But my desk in there is covered with the 1:35 scale SU-152 assault gun I’m in the middle of building. So I’m set up on my wife’s scrapbooking desk in the den upstairs. The wife and kids tend to stay downstairs while I’m working. I’ll come down for lunch and when I’m done in the afternoon.

Not everyone can numbnuts. Plus you are fooling yourself if you think people can be as productive working from home and surrounded by distractions rather than being in the office.

Once the kids are back in school distractions decrease greatly.

And lol if you think the office doesn’t have a ton more distractions.

As someone that worked from home full time for two months after Harvey and still did once a week prior to this I can say there are way k less distractions at home and I’m far more productive there.

Granted you need to have a lot of self discipline

Most people aren’t as engaged esp in a group webex vs an in person meeting. Most people are more likely to do the bare minimum as opposed to using their down time in the office to look at things more closely and find ways to improve.

Also my wife thinks since I’m at home all day, she can leave me a list of chores to do.

You clearly don’t have kids. It would be hard enough to work from home with them on a break. But it’s not a break, they have a full curriculum. Now you get to be a full time schoolmarm too...Lord help me!

If no one is participating in commerce or providing services, working from home overall is pissing in the wind. My neice was allowed to work from home and none of her customers are buying her products right now. Sitting on money.

Sounds like people can't control their kids.

I got an office upstairs and when I tell the wife and kids to "Stay out, I'll be working from home", they do it.

my wife made some schedule for my kids to do starting today for school. and they are somehow taking attendance every day and have daily work to do. I said that's great and all, but i'm not sitting next to them for an hour or two and doing this every day. I have to work. I'm not their teacher. we can help them when the work day is over. and she says they can do it on their own. Yeah. ok. they'll just learn new stuff everyday without my help or a teachers help. why the hell are they going to school if that's the case?

It's bad enough i have to pay for them to go to school, as well as pay taxes for other kids to go to school, and no one is going to school, but then you're going to ask me to be their teacher as well everyday? frick that. Give me my money back and give me a tax break on that portion of it too, and then i'll be their teacher. I have a job. I'm not doing my job, as well as the schools job, unless i get paid by the school.
