So much for getting out of the house and not getting cabin fever.

Never would I have believed that a global pandemic would force the temporary closure of our world-class ski resorts. I have been skiing since I was four years old. Our family has had a place in Vail for three decades. And, like so many Colorado families, we were planning a ski trip with our kids over their spring break next weekend. Beyond being a major part of our way of life, skiing supports our workers and businesses,” Governor Polis said in a written statement.

LOL. How hard is it to stay 6 feet apart "Social distancing" at a 5000 acre ski resort?

Kind of my thought. In gloves, masks, etc. the resorts were already taking measures of closing down the dining areas and gondolas to prevent close quarters of people interacting. I guess it wasn’t enough for the governor.

Husband and I went to Breckinridge last week. Flew in and out of Denver. Weird times.

Was in Colorado this week and was supposed to be at a resort this weekend. Cancelled the ski trip and headed back early.

Left Crested Butte today. Lucky they closed them starting tomorrow. I would be pissed. That being said there were employees at 2 of the restaurants where we ate that have since tested positive and those restaurants are now closed

I know a big group of Australians has infected Aspen. At least 10 from one group tested positive.

Not surprised everyone gets shutdown because of a situation in one area.

A lot of Colorado slopes are in national parks. Get a couple buddies and a snowmobile. The resorts may have the lifts shut down but the NPs aren’t closed.

That story doesn’t explain much, sounds like they were closing down on their own? How does a governor close down a private business otherwise without legal recourse?

I taught skiing at a major ski resort here for 10 years. Literally, there is not 1 ski resort in the lower 48 inside a National Park. Now you can, and I have, access Grand Teton NP from hiking out of bounds of Jackson hole. But almost every word in your post is false.

There are many western ski resorts that operate on National FOREST service lands by permit. Those permits allow the areas to control uphill access during the winter months. You couldn't ride a snowmobile uphill at any area even if you wanted to.

With all of this being said, Utah is following suit.

Time to buy MTN

Losing a month of all revenue will hurt.
