Per paul mainieiri on sports today. Athletic directors and university presidents to decide how to move forward, whether to try to play an sec schedule or bag the season.

Didnt seem optimistic

They should play the season just for fun. Do it old school and let the AP decide a champion at the end of the year.

The fact that they are making the decision today tells me its probably done for the year.
But im hoping for something good. Maybe a “we will evaluate the situation in 4 weeks, and if all is well we will put together a plan for a shortened sec season with an sec tournament”

Yep.

And it's entirely possible they got leaned on by the NCAA to make that decision so that the NCAA can make blanket decisions about eligibility.

If the NCAA is actually doing this, it’s a sign that they’ll likely grant extended eligibility of some sort.

We are presupposing a ton already, but yes I would agree with that.

There’s absolutely no reason to play it out if there’s no CWS

It's done
About all they can do is set a drop dead date of say mid April to make a final decision to play a limited SEC slate with a SEC tourney.
If the decision is being made today, it's done.

The overreaction to all of this is what's truly alarming. Completely dispose the idea of wait and see. Evaluate the situation and make a better informed decision later.

Nope. Everyone panic now.

They should do all the sports virtually. You know, with the video games that the kids enjoy. We could all tune in with our X-books and our face stations and watch on the world wide inter webs!

An SEC tournament would still be fun. And we know LSU dominates Hoover.

Itd be tough not to call the win er of the sec the national champs, the conference is far superior to all others this season in baseball

Just make it a divisional schedule or something, then have a three gram championship series of East vs. West, for "tournament champ" and auto-qualifier if that comes back into play.

Or if the remaining season is too short, do some sort of pod thing of West 1, West 2, East 1, and East 2 each playing each other...then those "champs" eliminate each other the play East vs West.

I just got a notification that LSU has cancelled all on campus events through the end of May so I’m assuming that means sports?

That would likely ruin any eligibility hrardship for next year. It just seems pointless

LSU has canceled all on-campus events and university-sponsored off-campus events of 30 attendees or more through May 30

No chance now

How about for the love and fun of the game? I'd find it refreshing to just go out to the ballpark for the rest of the year and watch the boys play.
