Can we talk about how amazing it is that the dudes filming this documentary basically stumbled into this? Essentially they were filming a documentary about someone who was filming a reality show about his life and his own self produced reality show? It was confusing as hell as to who was filming what

All of the great documentaries recently have had luck and ridiculous, meticulous recordings to make them so epic to tell.

Making a Murderer (crew was there just to film Avery getting out of jail for the wrongful conviction)

The Pharmacist (dude just happened to film tons of family footage and then proceed to audio tape record his entire life and all phone calls...and then have it all survive Katrina in an attic)

Tiger King (Joe self recording then having a reality show about him and his show and then have this documentary show up on top of that. Three sources of ridiculous footage to piece the story together)

The incredible thing about Tiger King is that you could do a fantastic documentary on 8-10 of the different people in it, yet somehow they're all intertwined in a single story.

You get like 8-10 incredible characters in a single doc.

One is not like the other

Tiger King is a Kardashian type show that he was purposely trying to become famous by filming himself.
Danny never intended to become famous or be known. He was doing what was right and what other lazy SOB's wouldn't do.

That was the story within the story of the story. The documentary filmmakers stumbled upon Joe who had another guy filming a reality TV show about Joe (and Joe himself was also live streaming trying to make himself famous...which is what the original reality show guy was filming )

They had three separate sets of video crews filming those scenes from the beginning of the story. The reality TV producer himself even said he had his crew running behind Joe's own crew. Then the Netflix doc was filming ALL of it.

The documentary guys thought they were just learning about the big cat/exotic animal trade and stumbled into a gold mine

If you can think of a celebrity there's a great chance they have a picture with Doc's cats

to Doc god damn Antle

Some people on here really showing how fricked up they are with the weird Doc Antle praise. Dude was putting animals in the gas chamber when he had no more use for them, and seemingly grooming young teenage virgin girls.

Forgive me, I haven’t read all 22 pages of this thread, do they show a lot of cruelty towards the animals?

Chaps from barstool on twitter had a weird meltdown about it being animal cruelty. Despite there being almost zero video in the doc of animal cruelty outside of them being confined

I mean, I feel like you can infer some cruelty through the documentary. I'm pretty sure expired WalMart meat isn't exactly great for tigers.

No one is a rocket scientist, but I'm pretty sure if they were abusive towards the cats, they wouldn't do it with cameras rolling.

Also, if you believe the stuff about Doc killing tigers after they were no longer cubs, that's pretty effing cruel.

Sure but melting about the doc that’s shining a light on these kind of things doesn’t really make sense

Again big difference between understanding these places are not good and not being able to watch because you are under the assumption they are abusing the tigers worse than shown.

No one watching the doc is coming out and celebrating these things happening, it’s just a crazy arse thing to watch and these people are all whack jobs
