Doc's entire setup is R Kelly with tigers and maybe a 1-2 year age difference. Oh, and R Kelly probably hasn't murdered any adolescent tigers, but I'm not 100% on that.

watching i was just checking off boxes. i mean i knew about Joe Exotic for a while, but i didn't know anywhere near that depth

after watching the first few episodes i was trying to link the Tiger cults with real ones

I'll say this, at least with Carole, she's only getting free labor from what appeared to be generally average people.
Doc was getting basically free labor plus running a sex cult by preying on young women.
Joe's was the worst of all, IMO. He was getting basically free labor by giving addicts and ex-cons expired meat and a shitty trailer to live in. The people he found attractive, he'd leverage their addictions for sex, even if they weren't gay.
Not that any of it is good, but I did walk away thinking there were degrees to it. My wife and I still have one episode to go.

Can we talk about how amazing it is that the dudes filming this documentary basically stumbled into this? Essentially they were filming a documentary about someone who was filming a reality show about his life and his own self produced reality show? It was confusing as hell as to who was filming what
All of the great documentaries recently have had luck and ridiculous, meticulous recordings to make them so epic to tell.
Making a Murderer (crew was there just to film Avery getting out of jail for the wrongful conviction)
The Pharmacist (dude just happened to film tons of family footage and then proceed to audio tape record his entire life and all phone calls...and then have it all survive Katrina in an attic)
Tiger King (Joe self recording then having a reality show about him and his show and then have this documentary show up on top of that. Three sources of ridiculous footage to piece the story together)
