Emergency meeting scheduled to go over online learning and future calendar

Just got a notice that we’re scheduling an emergency meeting about Coronavirus. I’m in Alabama.
Apparently all assignments and lessons will need to become online-based for the foreseeable future in the case that the virus shows up here.
The average age of death by the virus is 81.4.
I’m completely dumbfounded and annoyed by the response to this. Maybe the government and scientists know something or I’m not realizing the severity of the illness, but there seems to be zero reason to shut down the world for it.
It’s a common cold that kills people in their 80s+. Ebola was something I’d fear spreading but not this.

Do you not have anyone elderly in your family?

Tell them you're too sick to attend

They do. And the response and media firestorm coming from this is bizarre.
I’m not sure if it’s a test to see how completely the media controls the collective narrative and social hive mind or of its an actual crisis. I think it may be the test. And that scares me because it’s working flawlessly.
Trump wins
Brexit wins
China having open anti-communist protests
Citizens seem to be moving away from globalism and socialism
World economy soaring
China gets corona virus
Economy reacts
Virus spreads
Countries on lockdown
Media going insane
Populations freak out
Global epidemic announced
Something is coming. Something else is driving this story. And we should be more vigilant now than ever to the movies of our government and the global organizations that support global national socialism and control

The economy is good.
The media hates Trump.
A good economy is good for Trump.
Therefore the economy must be hurt.
Orange man bad.

What does that have to do with him going to school?

CNN, Fox, NBC, CBS, ABC all have their local affiliates fear-pumping at every available opportunity to scare the locals, and it has absolutely worked. Anyone notice how they're all saying the same catchphrases? Even the grandstanding politicans are all saying the exact. same. things.
"We are here to spread facts, not fear"
It's pathetic.

I get thinking the overall response is overboard, but working from home and schools going online is completely reasonable

Just his in-laws who he wants to pass away so he can get his hands on his trust-fund baby wife's inheritance.

I know this will sound cold hearted, but shutting down the economy for these people will end up causing more harm than the people we save at a certain point.
There are tons of workers and business owners whose lives could be permanently damaged by an overboard reaction. Good way to cause the suicide rate to go up.

It’s closer to a pneumonia that targets the elderly more so than any demographic.

The major concern is NOT that the young who contract it will die. The concern is that millions of young will contract it, fight off their cold after a week or so, and will spread it to elderly family and acquaintances - who WILL be at a much higher risk of dying from it than the less deadly (from a fatality rate standpoint) flu.
Why people can’t figure this out is beyond me. I guess everyone is self-centered and assume just because their personal risk of contracting it and dying from it is low that everything is all good. The idea behind these plans is to SLOW the SPREAD of the virus.

The number of cases globally is not growing exponentially, its growing very, very slowly....and that is due to increased testing. This is WAY overblown and there HAS to be more than a ratings grab by the MSM.....
A test case with a weak virus to see how control can be had through panic is most likely. A direct attempt to destroy the global economy is next on my list and that would be to affect the election.

Slow it enough till the summer comes and it dies off and a vaccine is ready for next flu season. If you want to save every 85 year old possible, then force everyone into self quarantine. If you want to cause panic, shut down entire school districts when one employee gets sick. There was never this kind of response to any other possible pandemic. Why now?

Add in that we're not immune, don't have a working vaccine and probably won't for another 12-18 months, and that it's still uncertain what long term health effects could result from it (permanent lung fibrosis unfortunately looking likely), it's not exactly something you want to mess around and contract regardless of your age or health. This could also very well end up being another sickness that remains in the world as it mutates with each passing season.
