Yeah, there is no difference between taking incredibly temporary measures to reduce the community spread of a novel virus versus having the government seize the means of production and distribution of industry . . .

You should probably start by learning just a little bit about basic macroeconomic structures before trying to tie any idea like socialism to disease prevention.

Singapore, who has freer economy than the US, was somehow magically able to institute temporary measures to control the spread of COVID-19 without plunging to the depths of Marxist-Leninism.

Are you arguing that we should continue that in perpetuity?

Should the CDC’s budget have been permanently increased by nearly 200%?

I am not saying I disagree with that, but that is nothing but hindsight.

No, and I agree it's easy to make these observations in hindsight. But these decisions can have ramifications, and taken as whole with other decisions it left us unprepared to adequately respond to this outbreak. I'm not laying the blame solely at the feet of this administration. A lot of it is out of their control. I am saying that some decisions they made have likely contributed to its spread here, which has amped up some of the paranoia.

Look, Valdimir, we're either 100% free to do whatever we want regardless of the public health implications, or else we live in a 1930's Stalinist gulag. There is no in-between.
