It’s not worth trying him at hitting coach because if we need to try another hitting coach he needs to be chosen by the new head coach.

Having Ochinko as the hitting coach for a second year was the decision that used up any remaining chances Mainieri should get to hire new guys. If smith doesn’t work, that should be it.

I can get behind all of this

Everyone always says bring back Andy, or hire another coach etc.

it all starts at the top

Exactly. So, here is a scenario:

We lose in the regional,
Do not host or attend super,
Do not go to Omaha

DOES WOODY:
(1) replace Paul at the end of the season

Or

(2) gives Paul another year

What makes Andy a douchebag?

He ran around on his wife (with young children) with a subordinate. He harassed that subordinate after she left State. He used State money to pay for trips to go harass his former subordinate. And he posts pictures on social media of himself working out. That's very douchey, no?

Reverse CPM and Andy with those same two teams.

Tell me who sweeps who now?

I doubt either gets swept in that situation, but who knows who sweeps who(m).

In that scenario he would deserve to be fired, but contract money may delay woodward from doing it

It depends on if he is willing to write a 4.5 mil check or not
If LSU is willing to give up the money I think he will be asked to retire

I would really be interested to see what CPM could do at a Mississippi State program.

He coached at Notre Dame. He won his conference and conference championships numerous time, and he took them to Omaha. Miss State is a much better program than Notre Dame.

As much as you're against Andy you'd think it was your wife he was fricking

By this logic, Paul Mainieri had to fricking YOUR wife.

I don’t understand why tRant thinks Cannizzaro is the only man in the world who can coach hitting

I’ll never understand the Rant’s obsession with a high school baseball coach

He was very successful as a hitting coach and as a recruiter.

It's easy to understand.

Why? You people bitched and moaned about him to while he was here. It was only after he left that he became a legend.

In theory, we have one of the best baseball programs in the country and if we do replace PM, I'm pretty sure Woodward will be targeting head coaches from other top programs - Vandy, Florida, T. Tech, etc... Cannizaro is not going to be the next coach at LSU in any capacity so please move on.

Problem is, Paul would have to get rid of AD or Cain to hire ANYBODY! We have a volunteer hitting coach until NCAA approves a 3rd paid assistant

This really isn't true. The team hit .298 while Andy was here, they've hit .286 since he's left.

Over the course of the season that's like an extra 28 hits, across the entire team, over an entire season. Negligible.

I could argue the program started rolling down hill while Andy was here.

He didn't coach hitting when he got the HC job at State. He pretty much stopped coaching after the first season but recruited heavily in his side piece's new zip code
