Do you think it's serves the public for people like Gavin Newsome and Janet Yellen to contradict the CDC and scare the ever living frick out of everyone?

Yeah but all these travel bans around the world have nothing to do with American politics.

Just waiting for the right moment to “vacation” on our farm on Lake St John. Definitely don’t want to be here if people lose their minds.

No, they don't. But a governor suggesting that 8400 people may have Coronavirus in California alone is wildly irresponsible, inaccurate, and completely political in nature. You saw that as the Dow tanked again minutes after his presser.

These people accused the president of being a Russian super spy. Do you really think they are above this?

He didn't suggest anything. He said 33 people have tested positive in California and 8400 are being monitored for the virus.

Facebook on Thursday announced its decision to cancel its annual F8 software developer conference due to concerns surrounding the COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak.

The conference was scheduled to take place on May 5 and 6 in McEnery Convention Center in San Jose, California. Around 5,000 people attended last year’s event, a company spokeswoman told CNBC.

Already cancelling an event that's not slated til May?

(Bloomberg)California is currently monitoring 8,400 people for signs of exposure to the coronavirus after they traveled to Asia, Governor Gavin Newsom said.

(Reuters) - California Governor Gavin Newsom said on Thursday that health officials are monitoring 8,400 people for coronavirus symptoms after they arrived in the state from domestic commercial flights.

Newsom announced they are monitoring those people for symptoms. He didn't say or suggest they had symptoms or the virus itself.

Yea I am not understanding the outrage ITT. He said they are monitoring these people for covid-19 because of their recent travel. I don't understand what the problem is.

Is Newsome supposed to not give the number of people they are keeping an eye on? If CA stayed silent, and the 8400 number came out two months from now, everyone would be going crazy that they hid knowledge on how many potential cases they have

The flu is usually played out long before then, is it not?
What time frame did SARS follow? Coronavirus is SARS, right?

My company has a fairly large conference planned for late May. We haven’t been given orders to book travel yet. I’m betting they will cancel too. It will save the company money and the higher ups probably don’t even want to go to the conference so it’s a convenient excuse to cancel.

Same. frick Newsom, but the global economy has already been getting hit hard as a result of the coronavirus. That’s way before Newsom’s comments today.

All he had to say was "we are closely monitoring every individual we know of that could have potentially come into contact with this carrier". Instead he chose to play a sick game of 6 degrees of Kevin Bacon.

The report already edited it's headline and other outlets are off and running with this hysterical statement. Now, Rodriguez's twitter trail is predictably littered with anti-Trump screed from the likes of Jake Tapper, Ana Navarro, and Rachel Maddow.
These are the same people who lecture us on uttering the name if the fricking whistleblower.

Mission accomplished.

If he did that the mob would be on him for not releasing numbers.

I think some of you are making a mountain out of a molehill on this one. The virus is already impacting the global economy and our markets. It is already suspected by most that the virus has spread within the larger US population. Newsom's comment isn't going to change public or market reaction in any meaningful way--at least any moreseo than any other comment made by public officials worldwide. Everyone knows (or should) that these types of numbers are coming...the European cases are a clear sign of that.

It's not 6 degrees of anything. He was honest about the number of people they are monitoring. Are we now going to bash politicians for being TOO honest? Jesus
