Your point would be better made if you were directing it towards the NBC reporter who sensationalized what Newsom said for clicks.

That's the point, you obtuse gargoyle. Are you even reading my posts? Newsome knows exactly what he's doing.

If every governor of every state, tried to calculate the total number of residents who may have gone to a high risk area or may have come into contact with someone who travelled to a high risk area, then blurted that number out as a potential count of infected citizens to a blood thirsty press, the entire nation would be on lockdown by sunrise. Now, ask yourself why no one else is speaking this way.

The other Democrats governors just haven’t thought this far ahead. Thanks for giving them the idea.

Because no one else is the governor of California, which is and will be the front line of the US outbreak. But ok bruh. Agree to disagree.

All he had to say was "we are closely monitoring every individual we know of that could have potentially come into contact with this carrier". Instead he chose to play a sick game of 6 degrees of Kevin Bacon.

Exactly. Not sure from the tweet if he added the sinister sounding word "suspected" or if the bitch from NBC did that. Language matters.

And will Newsome follow up later if none of the folks being monitor test positive later? Seems important to me.

It's a shame they dont have the ability to just test them.

Ok, say the Governor said precisely that. The follow up question from everyone, and I mean everyone--the press, twitter, the CDC, president trump, everyone-- is "Well how many people is that?"

Every other country, every single day, reports confirmed cases and the number of people currently being monitored or quarantined. Do you guys think that the stock market will never recover?

Monitoring. Not positive tests. Not folks showing symptoms. Not folks who lived with or spent significant time with a confirmed case.

So folks who may or may not have touched the same doorknobs as a confirmed case.

No reason to release that number other than concern trolling.

And the word suspected is pretty loaded.

I must have missed the "monitoring" stats from around the world.

The governor's in any state with large international airports could do this same thing. Hartsfield Jackson, OHare, Newark, JFK, etc... All have flights that connect through Seoul, Beijing, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Singapore, Tokyo, etc... What if you woke up tomorrow morning found that these four governors said that were each monitoring several thousand potential cases? All hell would break loose.

Not be surprised or change my day whatsoever because that is exactly what is happening everywhere else? Having large amounts of people self quarantine is going to be the first stage of the official response in this country--as it has been in every other country on Earth where the virus has popped up

The number of people being monitored has absolutely no relationship to the eventual number of confirmed cases nor the severity of the disease.

No, you're right.

The other places are closing entire portions of the country, banning all air travel, piling dirt on roads to keep people contained, closing schools and businesses for months, and contemplating cancelling the Olympics.

But announcing that there are several thousand people under observation is a bridge too far.

Someone told me about 3 weeks ago that the government is more worried about this that they are letting on because apparently the numbers are higher than 15 people

who the heck knows

it's like the dang flu...lots of people get the flu and are fine...

then again, a lot of people die from it...

no way the government can control these things like people want to believe..

This. The cat was already out of the bag by the time China decided to man up and tell the world about it. That said, outcomes for US patients will be vastly better than those in China.

60 cases in the US.
2 from contact with someone who brought it to the US.
12 “travel-related”
And the other 46 are either from the Diamond cruise or Wuhan directly.

We’re almost 2 months past the initial outbreak.

I am right.

And comparing the response in nations with hundreds or even thousands of confirmed cases, stricken by pathetic healthcare systems, and even worse government intervention bureaus to the US is the height of dishonesty.

Even these tin-pots aren't throwing around giant numbers of "suspected Coronavirus carriers".

My entire argument is that liberals and globalists are intentionally trying to scare Americans with Coronavirus in an effort to hurt Trump.

What's left, Trump supporters? Hint: "Liberals and globalists" aren't scared, just sharing info and preparing in a responsible way. It is the infowars / Q crowd who are panicking. And I thought you guys were all sorts of prepared for a new civil war.
