How old were you when you found your job you would retire at

I’m still early on in my career. I’ve had three different jobs all similar fields since graduating college. Mostly to the older OTers how old were you when you found the job you wanted to plant your roots at? Was it strictly because of your salary or a multitude of factors?

About to turn 29 and feel like I could be here for the long haul, only problem is that it's a medium sized family owned company that probably will be sold within the next 10 years, so after that I'm on my own.

Stumbled into something at 25, starting making money and still here at 52. Definitely not my dream job, but once you get embedded with the earnings you're stuck so to speak. It's not all that bad really (financial services).

Found it at 27. Teaching /coaching . Got two more years lord willing . Seeing videos posted like the one below makes my decision to get out of it that much easier. I have never had a problem like that btw.....knock on wood.

Took 4 years to get, but 28 when I began. 16 more years until retirement

Found the job I'll retire at once I left active duty (which is one of the reasons why I left active duty). Now the company? No clue. In my line of work I'll have to move companies to keep progressing. I'll probably end up consulting the last few years then transition to doing it part-time to keep myself busy.

45, and I work for an unstable, insecure and doesn’t trust anyone female boss.
I have a better chance of winning the lottery that I don’t even play than I do retiring here.

Started my oilfield job at 18. Still with same company under different ownership due to multiple buy outs. Currently 18 years in the business.

It took me 40 years. I hate that it took so long.

I found it at 14. Unfortunately it's very hard to break into the industry.

Started my job when I was 20 and a year away from graduating LSU. Started part time doing inside sales. I was supposed to go back to get my Masters in education, but work offered me a promotion making $10 an hour. I was stoked. Of course that was in 1995. 25 years later, I am still here after a short stint in Florida for 18 months. Very lucky to have stumbled onto this job. I will retire here unless a crazy opportunity presents itself.

Found it at 44. Been doing it a few years and they are going to have to make me leave.

I’m 40 and I haven’t found it yet. I think 8-10 years would be my max anywhere

I got lucky at 20. Been with my employer now for 32 years. They paid for my college, offer a great 401k and have a killer pension (2/3rd pay for life at retirement, which is 9 years away).
