Doesn't the same thing go for light? Space is dark. If the sun put off light, space wouldn't be dark, now would it?

I thinks it's cool the guy built his own rocket and launched it. He had done one before that went up to 2000 feet I think. Going out in your own rocket is a cool way to go.

There are some, though, that serve a purpose of highlighting things like hypocrisy, absolutism, and simple logic failures of the targets.
This could be one. It’s a solid platform for amateur scientists to get all lathered up about something without having the skills and data to actually prove the facts.
Think of an analogy in the Gender Wars. Clearly, there is a tiny segment of the population with messed up chromosomes and/or genitals. Then, there are people with legit gender dysphoria, a condition that, until it became unfashionable, was considered a mental illness. Rather than concede that these aberrations are indeed aberrations, you now have an entire culture bending over backwards to pretend that these are not, in fact, aberrations or a mental illness. It then snowballs.
Now, one is clearly a distortion of provable facts, and the other is a hodge lodge of “muh feelings”. In either case, it’s beneficial to see who can actually argue with any sort of science behind their emotions.

There was a Netflix documentary about FE folks that was really fascinating.
The thing I find the most interesting is that their diorama model/theory is much more elaborate and hard to pull off than just accepting that the globe is spherical.
