Yup. It's fricken delicious. Better than rabbit imo. Made it a few times. If you do a roast with it, it's just like beef.

Yes I've had it. Meats prettier than rabbit. They are decent table fare. Cooked in a red gravy with rice is pretty good.

Meat is shite. Don't touch it. I'll take it off your hands and dispose of it properly.

Totally agree. I've used it to make gumbos before and it is a excellent. Like already mentioned, better than rabbit and one full size nutria probably equals 4 good size rabbits as far as meat quantity goes.

One of my favorite things to eat

Very good.
Cooked some once in a sauce picante, told my wife it was rabbit.
Told her the truth after she had gone for seconds, she’s still pissed.

Stop calling it a nutria rat. It is a nutria.
There is a fur bearing animal called a muskrat.
Nutria rat’s is the term that Yankees and city slickers use. It is a bastardized version of nutria and muskrat.
Some people call them neutrals.

Any special way it needs to be cleaned? Any glands like a racoon that need to be addressed?

I had it a wild game supper. I too thought it was awful. And I eat squirrel and rabbit like it's going out of style...

Hind qtrs. are very good on the grill. Few years back WLF was trying to develop a market for them. We bought some at High Neighbor. It's a shame they didn't catch on.
